The 105 Freeway cheese ball spill left westbound lanes in Lynwood strewn with snack containers Tuesday after a pickup truck lost a pallet of them near the Long Beach Boulevard onramp.
About 120 containers spilled shortly after 5 p.m. on Aug. 25, according to the California Highway Patrol information reported by ABC7 and UPI. The incident happened just west of the Long Beach Boulevard onramp.
KTLA, citing a CHP incident report, said the spill temporarily blocked the carpool lane. It also brought delays as drivers made their way around loose cheese balls and containers on the roadway.
Where did the 105 Freeway cheese ball spill happen?
The spill occurred on the westbound 105 Freeway in the Lynwood area, just west of the Long Beach Boulevard onramp. It was reported at about 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25.
CHP received reports that some motorists stopped on the freeway to pick up tubs that had remained unopened, ABC7 and KTLA reported. UPI said those stops added to the delays.
Video published by ABC7 and KTLA shows the aftermath, with containers and loose snacks across the westbound freeway.
Cleanup crews cleared the area, and all main lanes reopened, ABC7 reported. The reports did not identify why the cargo came loose, and no details were reported about injuries, citations or the pickup driver.
