Apple AI glasses 2027 chatter now has a firmer target: Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that Apple plans to introduce its smart glasses at next year’s Worldwide Developers Conference, the company’s annual June event that is usually centered on software.
According to Gurman, the device would mark Apple’s planned move into the smart glasses market, where rivals including Meta and Samsung have already been pushing face-worn tech. Mashable noted that Apple’s glasses have been rumored before, but Gurman’s report puts a public unveiling on the WWDC 2027 calendar.
Availability is less nailed down. Mashable reported that the glasses would presumably go on sale sometime before the end of 2027 after the WWDC introduction.
When will Apple AI glasses come out?
Gurman reports that Apple is expected to show the glasses at WWDC 2027. A retail launch has not been confirmed, but Mashable said the timing points to a possible release later in 2027.
The device is still light on confirmed details. Gurman’s report says Apple has not settled, at least publicly, on exactly how the glasses will be built or what features will make the cut.
One major question is cameras. Smart glasses from Meta, Samsung and others have helped establish a category where eyewear can include cameras for photos and videos, and can also feed what the wearer sees to an onboard AI assistant, according to Mashable’s summary of the market.
That setup brings privacy concerns, and Gurman reports Apple is weighing ways to address them. The company is considering either leaving cameras out entirely or keeping cameras while removing photo and video capture, so the lenses would serve only to give context to an AI assistant, according to the Bloomberg report.
What would Apple’s smart glasses do?
Based on Gurman’s reporting, Apple’s glasses may use AI to understand what is around the wearer, if cameras remain part of the design. The report does not describe a final feature list, price, name or hardware specifications.
The glasses also reportedly will not include displays. Mashable noted that this would match many smart glasses already on the market, which focus on cameras, audio or AI features rather than placing a screen in front of the user’s eyes.
The timing is notable because Apple’s last major face-worn device, the Vision Pro, has struggled by Mashable’s description. Even so, Gurman’s report indicates Apple is still preparing another shot at wearable tech for the face, this time in a lighter smart-glasses form rather than a mixed-reality headset.
For now, the biggest confirmed piece is the reported stage: WWDC 2027. If Gurman’s timeline holds, Apple’s next wearable push could arrive in front of developers first, with the consumer pitch coming after.
