Audible is cutting the price of its Standard membership to 99 cents a month for three months, with the offer available to new and returning subscribers through July 30, according to Mashable.

The deal brings the three-month cost to less than $3 before any applicable taxes or fees. Mashable says the plan usually costs $8.99 a month, making the promotion an $8 monthly discount and a $24 saving across the full offer period.

The offer applies to Audible Standard, the lower-priced membership tier Audible announced in March, according to an Audible newsroom post cited by Mashable. The plan gives subscribers one audiobook selection each month from Audible's full collection.

What the Standard plan includes

Audible Standard is built around monthly access rather than permanent ownership. Mashable reports that subscribers can choose one audiobook per month, but those titles are not kept if the subscription is canceled.

That is a key difference from Audible's Premium plan, according to Mashable, which says Premium members can keep their selected titles after canceling.

Mashable also reports that Standard subscribers who do not pick a book during the allotted monthly window lose that month's selection. In other words, the clock matters.

The promotional package includes more than the three monthly audiobook picks. Mashable says subscribers also get unlimited Audible Originals and access to nearly 200 popular titles from Wondery+ during the subscription period.

The fine print to watch

The promo price lasts for three months. After that period, the Standard plan is listed by Mashable at its regular $8.99 monthly price.

Because Standard titles are tied to an active subscription, Mashable warns that listeners should finish their chosen audiobooks before canceling. Canceling the plan means losing access to those selected titles, according to the report.

For readers who missed Audible's Prime Day offer, Mashable frames this as the next chance to try the service at a sharply reduced rate, though the current promotion is not free.

The headline numbers are straightforward:

  • Audible Standard is 99 cents per month for three months.
  • The deal is open to new and returning subscribers.
  • The promotion runs through July 30.
  • Mashable lists the regular price as $8.99 per month.
  • Total savings are $24 across the three months, according to Mashable.

Anyone taking the deal should check Audible's terms at sign-up and keep track of the renewal date, since the discounted pricing is temporary and the plan's audiobook access ends when the subscription does.
