Burlington High School gets an unexpected visit from escaped sheep

Burlington High School sheep made an unscheduled appearance Monday after escaping from the nearby Episcopal Diocese and wandering onto the grounds of the new school in Burlington, Vermont.

The Burlington School District said diocese staff rounded up the animals and took them home, according to local station WCAX. The reports did not say how many sheep were involved or whether their brief visit disrupted school operations.

Photos credited to Ryan Tise showed the sheep outside the school. The district shared the images on social media, UPI reported.

Where did the sheep at Burlington High School come from?

The school district said the sheep had escaped from the Episcopal Diocese down the street, WCAX reported. UPI also reported that the animals were determined to have come from the nearby diocese.

The reports describe the sheep roaming school grounds on Monday, Sept. 22. They do not report injuries, property damage or the exact time the animals got loose.

For the sheep, the school stop was short. Diocese staff gathered them up and returned them home, WCAX said.
