Comic-Con 2026 announcements came fast in San Diego, with Marvel Studios confirming Ryan Gosling for the MCU, Prime Video rolling out trailers for major genre swings, and Apple TV showing its first look at Neuromancer.
Comic-Con International: San Diego is a fan convention where studios often bring early footage, casting news and release plans for coming film and TV projects. This year’s movie and streaming reveals stretched from superhero films due in 2028 to series arriving in the coming months.
What were the biggest Comic-Con 2026 announcements?
Marvel Studios made two of the splashiest reveals at its panel. The studio confirmed Gosling will play Johnny Blaze in a new Ghost Rider movie, with Shawn Levy directing. The film is scheduled for release in 2028.
Marvel also announced the next Black Panther. David Jonsson will play the son of T’Challa, the character portrayed by Chadwick Boseman, in Black Panther 3. Ryan Coogler is directing, and the film is set to arrive on December 15, 2028.
Prime Video shows off Middle-earth, Blade Runner and Carrie
Prime Video brought a busy slate to the convention. The trailer for season 3 of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power teased Sauron completing the One Ring and war spreading through Middle-earth. New cast members include Simon Pegg as the voice of the Balrog, Eddie Marsan as Dwarven royal Thrain, and Andrew Richardson as Anárion, the future King of Gondor. The season premieres November 11.
The streamer also debuted the first trailer for Blade Runner 2099, its series set decades after Blade Runner 2049. Michelle Yeoh stars as Olwen, a replicant nearing the end of her life, with Hunter Schafer playing a human fugitive being pursued by Blade Runners. Ridley Scott executive produces, and Silka Luisa serves as showrunner. The series arrives November 25.
Mike Flanagan’s Carrie series got its first trailer as well. The Prime Video miniseries updates Stephen King’s story for the smartphone era and premieres October 7. The eight-episode series follows Carrie White as she faces bullying at school and abuse at home from her religious mother, Margaret, while discovering her telekinetic powers.
Summer H. Howell leads the cast as Carrie, with Samantha Sloyan as Margaret, Siena Agudong as Sue Snell, and Matthew Lillard as Principal Grayle. Alison Thornton, Thalia Dudek, Amber Midthunder, Josie Totah, Arthur Conti, and Joel Oulette also appear.
AMC and Apple TV add mystery and cyberpunk
AMC+ and Crave released a teaser for Yaga, a Canadian supernatural mystery series. Noah Reid stars as a detective looking into the disappearance of Henry Park, an heir to a commercial fishery, in a small coastal town. Park is played by Hudson Williams.
The Yaga cast also includes Carrie-Anne Moss and Clark Backo. Kat Sandler created the series, which is based on her 2019 stage play of the same name.
Apple TV entered the Comic-Con mix with the first trailer for Neuromancer, an adaptation of William Gibson’s cyberpunk novel. Callum Turner stars as hacker Case.
