Dyson V8 Cyclone deal drops the newer cordless vacuum to $299.99

The Dyson V8 Cyclone deal has knocked the newer cordless vacuum and Car Cleaning Kit bundle down to $299.99 on Dyson’s website as of July 28, according to Mashable. That is $100 off the listed $399.99 MSRP.
The timing makes the sale more tempting because the older Dyson V8 is also listed at $299.99 at Amazon, Mashable reported. Same price, very different pitch.
Dyson released the revamped V8 Cyclone in June, according to Mashable, giving the long-running V8 line a fresher entry at a launch price that sat below some of the brand’s higher-end stick vacuums. Mashable’s vacuum reviewer said they had previously pointed budget shoppers toward a Shark stick vacuum with a self-emptying dock instead of the V8, but said the new Cyclone version changed that calculation.
Is the Dyson V8 Cyclone deal better than the old V8?
Based on the specs cited by Mashable, the newer V8 Cyclone gives shoppers more for the same $299.99 sale price than the older V8 currently does. The new model has stronger suction, longer listed battery life, an extra suction mode, and more bundled tools.
The older Dyson V8 has 115 Air Watts of suction power, while the V8 Cyclone has 150 Air Watts, according to Mashable. Air Watts are used here as the suction-power rating, and the higher figure puts the V8 Cyclone at the same suction number Mashable cited for the Dyson V12 Detect Slim.
Dyson has confirmed that the V8 Cyclone is the most powerful V8 model to date, Mashable reported. The newer model also offers three suction modes, compared with two on the older V8.
What comes with the Dyson V8 Cyclone bundle?
The $299.99 Dyson offer is for the V8 Cyclone cordless vacuum with a Car Cleaning Kit, according to Mashable. The kit includes a crevice tool, extension hose, stubborn dirt brush, and mini soft dusting brush.
By comparison, Mashable reported that the older V8 sale listing at Amazon includes only the crevice tool. Both vacuums have 0.14-gallon dust bins, and the newer V8 Cyclone weighs only 0.1 ounces more than the old V8 despite the stronger motor and longer battery claim.
Battery life is another clear split in Mashable’s comparison. The V8 Cyclone is rated for up to 60 minutes of cleaning per charge, while the older V8 tops out at 40 minutes.
One coming add-on could matter for shoppers who want less bin-emptying hassle. Mashable said a self-emptying dock for the V8 Cyclone is expected in August.
For now, the deal puts Dyson’s newer V8 and the older V8 at the same sale price. The difference is that the Cyclone bundle brings the newer specs and the car-cleaning attachments into the cart at $299.99.
