The Granola Apple Watch app is now available, giving users a way to record and transcribe meetings from their wrist without reaching for an iPhone, according to Granola.

The company said the free app is designed for conversations that do not happen in front of a laptop, including walking one-on-ones, whiteboard sessions and quick coffee chats. A user can start a recording from the watch, then have the resulting notes sync to an iPhone and computer after the meeting ends.

Granola said the app can also tap a user ahead of a scheduled meeting as a reminder to record. For unscheduled conversations, users can place Granola on the Apple Watch face so a new note is one tap away.

What is Granola for Apple Watch?

Granola for Apple Watch is a watchOS app for capturing meeting audio and turning it into notes. It extends Granola’s meeting-note workflow to the wrist, so users can start recordings during in-person or away-from-desk conversations.

The app is free and available starting today, according to Granola. It requires watchOS 11 or later.

Which Apple Watch is best for Granola?

Battery life is the catch for anyone planning to record meeting after meeting. Mashable reported that using Granola through a packed calendar could drain a standard Apple Watch quickly, and pointed to the Apple Watch Ultra 3 as the stronger match for heavy use.

Mashable’s Stan Schroeder has noted that most Apple Watch models trail other watches badly on battery life. The Ultra 3 improves that picture, with up to 42 hours of normal use, according to the report.

That extra runtime is the main reason Mashable singled out the Ultra 3 for people who expect to keep Granola running across back-to-back meetings. The recommendation is about endurance rather than a special Granola-only feature.

  • Granola’s watch app records and transcribes meetings from Apple Watch.
  • Notes sync to iPhone and computer after recording.
  • The app can remind users to record before scheduled meetings.
  • Granola can be added to the watch face for fast access.
  • The app is free and requires watchOS 11 or later.
  • Mashable identified Apple Watch Ultra 3 as the better option for heavy use because of battery life.

A product listing cited by Mashable showed the Apple Watch Ultra 3 at $779 at Amazon. The key decision for Granola users is whether they need wrist-based note capture for the occasional chat or for a whole day of meetings, since the latter puts more weight on battery life.
