Hot Zuko edits turn Avatar Aang clips into TikTok bait
Adult Zuko clips from Avatar Aang are flooding TikTok, where fan edits are pulling old and new viewers toward the franchise.

Hot Zuko edits are suddenly everywhere on TikTok after Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender arrived on Paramount+ and in select theaters, giving fans fresh footage of the grown-up Fire Nation prince.
The clips are not being shared as straight movie snippets. TikTok creators are slowing them down, zooming in, adding music and turning a few shots of adult Zuko into short fan videos built for replay.
What are hot Zuko edits?
Hot Zuko edits are fan-made TikTok videos that remix scenes of adult Zuko from Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender, usually with music, color grading and dramatic cuts. They work like mini character trailers, aimed less at plot recap and more at making viewers care about one fictional man fast.
According to Mashable, a wave of these edits has centered on the same small batch of movie shots. Some use Doja Cat’s “Jealous Type,” while others swap in Sabrina Carpenter, Britney Spears, viral cat-meow audio or barking dogs.
The reaction has spilled onto X as well. One post quoted by Mashable praised Zuko while “sitting there” with his hair in a bun, and another said the user would “take on the world” for adult Zuko.
Many of the clips do not stay up for long. Mashable reported that because the edits use copyrighted film footage, some are removed soon after they begin spreading.
That has not stopped the churn. The report said some edits have drawn hundreds of thousands of views, sparked TikTok stitches and reaction videos, and filled comment sections with people asking where the footage came from or saying they had not watched Avatar before.
Why Zuko still has the internet in a chokehold
Zuko has been part of online fandom since Avatar: The Last Airbender premiered on Nickelodeon in 2005. Long before TikTok edits became the default language of fandom, the character was a fixture of Tumblr, YouTube fan videos, fanfiction, cosplay and GIF sets.
Dante Basco, who voiced teenage Zuko in the original animated series, spoke about that staying power in a 2020 interview with Fandom for the show’s 15th anniversary. Basco called Avatar “so timeless” and said he was happy a new generation was finding it, while noting that fans had kept following and cosplaying the series.
Basco also told Fandom that fans regularly describe Zuko as having “one of the greatest redemption arcs in history.” That arc, from angry pursuer to Aang’s firebending teacher, remains one of the character’s central draws.
The character nearly took a different shape. On the Avatar: Braving the Elements podcast, co-creator Bryan Konietzko said Zuko came from a suggestion by Nickelodeon executive Eric Coleman that the show needed someone chasing the heroes throughout the story. Konietzko recalled asking whether that character could have a scar.
Konietzko also said the creative team knew early that Zuko would eventually teach Aang. Janet Varney, who voices Korra, said on the same podcast that audiences respond to “the villain who’s been hurt” and gets a chance to return from that pain.
The new film adds another internet-favorite ingredient: adult Zuko is voiced by Steven Yeun. The creators of Avatar Aang have told Entertainment Weekly the film revisits Team Avatar at the edge between adolescence and adulthood.
On TikTok, that return is being filtered through fandom at high speed. The movie supplied the footage, but fans are doing the selling, one short, glossy Zuko edit at a time.
