Kacey Musgraves canceled shows in Chicago, Boston and Brooklyn from her upcoming Middle of Nowhere Tour, including what had been the trek’s opening night, Rolling Stone reported.
According to People, ticket holders for the Aug. 20 concert in Chicago, the Aug. 29 concert in Boston and the Sept. 2 show in Brooklyn received emails over the weekend saying those dates had been canceled and that refunds would be issued.
No reason for the cancellations has been announced. Rolling Stone reported that Musgraves has not officially commented on the change and is currently vacationing in Greece.
Which Kacey Musgraves shows were canceled?
- Aug. 20 at the United Center in Chicago
- Aug. 29 at TD Garden in Boston
- Sept. 2 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn
The Chicago date had been scheduled one night before another United Center concert on Aug. 21. Rolling Stone reported that the Aug. 20 show was added after demand for the originally announced Aug. 21 performance.
The Boston cancellation follows a similar pattern. Musgraves still has an Aug. 28 concert on the books at TD Garden, while the Aug. 29 date has been removed, according to Rolling Stone.
The Brooklyn show was also an add-on. Rolling Stone reported that the Barclays Center date was placed on the schedule after Musgraves had already booked two New York concerts at Madison Square Garden on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1. Those MSG shows remain unchanged.
What Middle of Nowhere Tour dates are still happening?
The Aug. 21 Chicago concert is now set to become the opening night of the Middle of Nowhere Tour, according to Rolling Stone. The remaining Boston date on Aug. 28 and both Madison Square Garden dates in New York are still scheduled.
Rolling Stone also reported that other two-night stops on the tour were not affected by the cancellations. Those include Nashville, Austin, Dallas, Los Angeles and Seattle.
The North American run supports Musgraves’ recent album, also titled Middle of Nowhere, according to Rolling Stone. That leg is scheduled to wrap Oct. 27 in Seattle.
After the North American dates, Musgraves is set to head overseas. Rolling Stone reported that she has a short Australian tour planned for January 2027, followed by European dates the next month.
What is blue dot fever?
The Independent reported that some fans have speculated the cancellations could be tied to low ticket sales, a theory also described as “blue dot fever.” No official explanation has been given, and that claim remains fan speculation.
For now, the confirmed change is narrower: three added dates are gone, refunds are being sent, and the rest of the announced tour remains in place, according to the reports from People and Rolling Stone.
