Karol G “Matadora” is here, timed to the opening of her Viajando Por El Mundo Tropitour in Chicago, Rolling Stone reported. The Colombian star released the new track as she began a 39-date stadium run across North America, South America and Europe.

The rollout was pure fan-bait, in the best pop-star sense. According to Rolling Stone, Karol G teased the song Thursday night on Instagram with a bright dance video and a caption promising to release it during the show if the post hit 1 million comments.

In the clip, Karol G appears in full glam with an oversized white hoodie, joined by dancers in matching looks. Rolling Stone reported that a Spanish voice-over from Karol says, “Those little eyes, what is it baby? Don’t look at me like that,” before the beat kicks in and the group dances under blue lights, revealing neon pink bikinis printed with words from the lyrics.

What is Karol G's Matadora?

“Matadora” is Karol G’s new song, released at the start of her global stadium tour. A visualizer for the track has also appeared through KarolGVEVO on YouTube, according to the listing cited by Rolling Stone.

The song follows months of chatter around what Karol G might do after her 2025 album, Tropicoqueta. Rolling Stone reported that speculation about a fresh chapter grew after the album and around the singer’s tour campaign.

Karol G announced the Viajando Por El Mundo Tropitour in April, after first teasing it during what Rolling Stone described as her historic headlining Coachella set. At the time, she told fans in Spanish, “If you think you’ve already seen it all, remember that La Bichota always surprises you,” while using the same blue-heavy visual style that later appeared in the “Matadora” teaser, according to the magazine.

The tour is a milestone on its own. Rolling Stone reported that Karol G is set to become the first Latina artist to headline stadiums in Europe as part of a global tour.

What has Karol G said about new music?

Karol G recently told Vogue’s “The Run-Through” podcast that tour prep has not kept her away from making songs. “Summer has been looking like rehearsals and creating at the same time,” she said, adding that she has felt inspired in the studio since November.

She also teased the scale of the coming shows in the Vogue interview. “I’m waiting for people to see what we pull out together,” Karol G said. “It’s amazing.”

With “Matadora” arriving as the Tropitour curtain rises, Karol G is tying the new release directly to a stadium campaign already billed as a major step in her global reach. The song gives fans a fresh anthem just as the tour begins its sweep across three continents.
