The Lego Olivia Rodrigo vinyl hunt is officially on, and the prize is tiny, rare and very on-brand: 333 limited-edition brick-built Lego vinyl records hidden in record stores around the world.
Lego and Rodrigo kicked off the stunt Monday at Licorice Pizza Records in Los Angeles, where 100 fans were surprised with a store takeover tied to the new Lego Editions Olivia Rodrigo collection. The record shop was remade as a life-sized Lego build, according to details shared about the event.
The centerpiece was a giant Lego recreation of the floating moon Rodrigo used during her Guts World Tour. The build used 77,000 Lego bricks, and Rodrigo sat on it while answering questions from fans at the shop.
The full store transformation took more than 110,000 Lego bricks and over 500 hours to build, according to the event details.
How do you find the Lego Olivia Rodrigo vinyl records?
Fans will need to watch Lego and Rodrigo’s social media accounts over the next couple of weeks. Clues will be posted there to point people toward the record stores where the 333 brick-built vinyl records have been hidden.
Lego and Rodrigo are asking fans who find one of the records to post about it using the hashtag #FindAStoryInEveryPiece. Lego’s Instagram account is one place fans are being directed to watch for updates.
The hunt is built around the idea of discovery, which Lego says is also part of the Olivia Rodrigo collection itself. Julia Goldin, Lego’s chief product and marketing officer, said the Vinyl Hunt was designed to take that concept “one step further” by turning it into a real-world event in record stores and communities globally.
What is the Lego Editions Olivia Rodrigo collection?
The Lego Editions Olivia Rodrigo collection is a set of five collectible builds inspired by Rodrigo’s music and performances. According to Lego, the sets draw from the Sour, Guts and You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love eras.
The collection was made in close collaboration with Rodrigo, according to Lego. Each set includes hidden references and details aimed at fans who want to search through the builds for nods to specific songs, shows and moments.
The timing is no accident. The record-store surprise and global vinyl hunt are both tied to the rollout of the collection, giving fans something to chase before the sets hit shelves.
The Lego Editions Olivia Rodrigo collection is available to pre-order now. Lego says the global launch is set for Aug. 1 through Lego, Lego stores and select retailers worldwide.
For fans, the immediate task is simpler: keep an eye on the clues, check the record stores named by Lego and Rodrigo, and move quickly if one of the 333 brick-built records turns up nearby.
