Friends and collaborators are asking the public for help in the Linda Perhacs missing concern, saying the 82-year-old singer-songwriter has not been reachable since she left a residential care facility about eight months ago.
Laurel Stearns, Perhacs’ former manager, posted the appeal on Instagram with a photo of the musician. According to Stearns’ statement, Perhacs was discharged from the facility under the supervision of her legal guardian, and people close to her have not been able to make contact with either Perhacs or the guardian.
The statement says those raising the alarm are not accusing anyone of wrongdoing. It says the goal is to confirm that Perhacs is safe, well and receiving proper care after months without communication from a public figure whose work still has a devoted following.

Writer Jessica Hundley told Rolling Stone by email that Perhacs had lived at the care facility for several years and had been struggling with dementia. Hundley said elder care services had been called, several police reports had been filed and a private investigator had been retained to help find her.
Stearns listed her email, [email protected], for anyone with verified information that could help locate Perhacs. In the Instagram post, Stearns said the effort was not meant to invade Perhacs’ privacy, but to make sure she is safe and to restore contact with her.
Who is Linda Perhacs?
Perhacs is a singer-songwriter best known for her 1970 album Parallelograms, which she recorded while working as a dental hygienist. The record did not find a wide audience at the time, but it later drew new attention in the late 1990s and became a cult favorite among psychedelic folk listeners.
After the renewed interest in Parallelograms, Perhacs returned to recording. She released The Soul of All Natural Things in 2014, followed by I’m a Harmony in 2017.
The latest public appeal has spread through Perhacs’ music circle because of the long gap in communication described by Stearns and others close to the singer. Their request is narrow: anyone with confirmed information about Perhacs’ condition or how to contact her is being asked to reach out.
