2K has released the official NBA 2K27 gameplay trailer, giving fans a look at cover athletes Victor Wembanyama, Caitlin Clark and Derrick Rose before the company’s larger game reveal later this month.
The video highlights players from both the NBA and WNBA, according to 2K’s rollout. Among the moments shown are Wembanyama’s playoff celebration, LeBron James performing his chalk toss while depicted as a Philadelphia 76er, and Rose sinking a buzzer-beating three against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The trailer is a showcase rather than the whole scouting report. 2K is saving its fuller breakdown for an Aug. 18 stream, where the company says it will detail more of what is changing in this year’s game.
When is the NBA 2K27 gameplay reveal stream?
2K’s first “Preseason Breakdown: NBA 2K27 Game Reveal” stream is scheduled for Aug. 18 at 10 a.m. PT and 1 p.m. ET. The company says it will stream live on Twitch, YouTube, TikTok and X.
The Preseason Breakdown is 2K’s dedicated reveal event for the game. Based on what the company has previewed, it is where fans should expect more detail on gameplay systems, modes and feature changes beyond the trailer footage.
What changes has 2K previewed so far?
2K has already teased several updates that are due to get more attention during the Aug. 18 event. The list touches core gameplay, MyTEAM, MyCAREER and player builds.
- A new dynamic Dunk Meter will factor in defensive positioning in real time, from takeoff through the finish, according to 2K.
- MyTEAM will get a unified Auction House across PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2 for the first time, creating a shared card pool across those platforms.
- Rucker Park is returning and will be used as the setting for this year’s MyCAREER story and Street Kings mode.
- The MyPLAYER Builder is expanding from 40 total Badges to 53, with 19 new Badges included.
Those changes point to a reveal that will cover more than player likenesses and presentation. The Dunk Meter update, in particular, is being described by 2K as a system that reads the defense as a dunk attempt unfolds.
When can you play NBA 2K27?
NBA 2K27 is set to launch Sept. 4 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC through Steam and Nintendo Switch 2, according to 2K.
Players who buy the Deluxe or Ultra Edition can start earlier. 2K says early access for those editions begins Aug. 28.
For now, the trailer gives the series its first on-court sales pitch for the season: Wembanyama, Clark and Rose up front, current and classic-style highlight beats in the mix, and a full reveal waiting on Aug. 18.
