Ohio lottery winner twice in one week pockets $384,562 after taxes
A Toledo man won $40,000 a year for 25 years on a scratch-off, then hit $25,000 days later, according to the Ohio Lottery.

An Ohio lottery winner twice in the same week turned one lucky scratch-off into a $1 million prize, then came back days later with another ticket worth $25,000, according to the Ohio Lottery.
The winner, identified by lottery officials only as a Toledo man, bought his first $50 Millionaire Blowout ticket at Mike’s Corner Store on Key Street in Toledo. The Ohio Lottery said the ticket revealed a prize of $40,000 a year for 25 years, adding up to $1 million.
Rather than take the annual payments, the man chose a one-time lump sum of $500,000, according to lottery officials. After taxes, his first prize came to $366,250.
That would be enough lottery drama for most people. The Toledo winner told Ohio Lottery officials the first win made him feel lucky, so he bought another ticket later that same week.
The second ticket delivered again: a $25,000 prize, the Ohio Lottery said. After taxes, that payout came to $18,312.50.
How much did the Ohio lottery winner take home?
Across the two prizes, the Toledo man received $384,562.50 after taxes, based on the after-tax amounts reported by the Ohio Lottery. His larger win was advertised as $40,000 a year for 25 years, but he selected the lower immediate cash option instead.
A lump-sum payment means a winner takes a single upfront payout rather than receiving the full advertised prize in scheduled payments over time. In this case, the Ohio Lottery said the $1 million annuity-style prize became a $500,000 cash option before taxes.
The lottery said the man has plans for the money that mix fun, family and practical moves. He told officials the winnings will let him extend an upcoming vacation, buy a new vehicle, share money with his children and add to his savings.
The first winning ticket came from Mike’s Corner Store in Toledo, according to the Ohio Lottery. Lottery officials did not report the man’s name.
