Pearl Jam’s Since Forever is turning bassist Jeff Ament’s private camera roll into a new photo book, with the band’s early rise shown through images he shot backstage, in studios and out on tour, Rolling Stone reported.
Ament, a founding member of Pearl Jam, began taking photos as the Seattle friends grew into one of the defining bands of their generation, according to the report. The book comes from an archive he later revisited with his brother, designer Barry Ament, after the negatives had begun to deteriorate.
A press release cited by Rolling Stone said the collection is built mostly from photos that have not been published before. It presents candid scenes tied to the band’s creative life, friendships and long-running relationships across the decades, according to the release.
What is Pearl Jam’s Since Forever book?
Since Forever is a photography book by Jeff Ament, made with Barry Ament, that collects images from Pearl Jam’s life behind the scenes. The book focuses on the band’s time together offstage as well as its work in the studio and on the road, according to Rolling Stone and the press release.
Ament said the project began with preservation, rather than a publishing plan. “If there was a goal, it was mostly to save the failing 30 year old negatives. It was Barry’s idea to make a book,” he said in a statement reported by Rolling Stone.
The bassist also put a number on how much of the archive fans have not seen. “Ninety percent of these photos have never been seen before,” Ament said. “Anybody who’s a PJ fan or a fan of what was going on in the 90s will dig it.”
The book’s pitch is intimate rather than glossy: Ament’s camera followed the band through the less public spaces around the music, including backstage rooms, recording sessions and travel. According to the press release, those images are meant to show the creativity and camaraderie that helped keep the group together over time.
When does Since Forever come out?
Since Forever is scheduled to be released on Sept. 25, 2026, Rolling Stone reported.
Jeff and Barry Ament are also set to begin a book tour at Ohana Festival in Dana Point, California. Their scheduled festival appearances are Sept. 25 and Sept. 27, according to Rolling Stone.
The report was published July 29, 2026, and included a photo credit noting Danny Clinch photographed Jeff Ament in Seattle on Feb. 8, 2024. The book itself, according to the details released so far, centers on Ament’s own rescued negatives and the Pearl Jam history they captured before much of it had been widely seen.
