Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 8 may arrive looking a lot like the phone already on store shelves, according to newly reported leaks.
WinFuture, in details reported by 9to5Google, says the next clamshell foldable keeps much of the Galaxy Z Flip 7 formula intact. The leaked details point to a similar outer design, display setup, camera hardware and most other specifications.
The main change, according to WinFuture, is inside the device. The Galaxy Z Flip 8 is said to use Samsung’s Exynos 2600 processor, replacing the Exynos 2500 found in the current Galaxy Z Flip 7.
That would still leave one rumored wish unfulfilled. 9to5Google noted that some consumers had been hoping Samsung would move the Flip 8 to a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip, but WinFuture’s leak says Samsung is sticking with Exynos for this model.
What the leak says is changing
The reported upgrade list is short, at least based on the latest leak. WinFuture says the Galaxy Z Flip 8 will add support for 45W wired charging, which would give the phone a faster plugged-in charging option than before.
The leak also says the phone will be 8 grams lighter than the Galaxy Z Flip 7. At the same time, WinFuture reports it may be a little thicker than its predecessor.
- Processor: Exynos 2600, according to WinFuture
- Charging: 45W wired charging support, according to the leak
- Weight: 8 grams lighter than the Flip 7, according to WinFuture
- Body: slightly thicker, according to the same leak
- Design, display and camera: broadly similar to the Flip 7, according to WinFuture
For Flip 7 owners looking for a bold redesign, the leak suggests this may be a modest step rather than a big visual reset. For buyers coming from an older device, a faster chip and charging bump could still matter.
The timing is also part of the story. Mashable reports that Samsung’s new foldables are expected to debut on July 22 at a Galaxy Unpacked event in London. Samsung has not made the Galaxy Z Flip 8 specifications official yet.
Price could shape how these rumored changes land with shoppers. Mashable has also reported speculation that Samsung may have to raise prices for the Galaxy Z8 series, though the company has not confirmed pricing for the Flip 8.
That leaves the Galaxy Z Flip 8 in familiar leak-season territory: plenty of alleged specs, no official Samsung sheet yet. If the reported July 22 Unpacked debut happens, the company’s next flip phone should move from rumor to reality next week, alongside other expected mobile product announcements.
