Samsung’s 27-inch Odyssey G5 G53F gaming monitor has dropped back under $200 at Amazon, giving PC players a QHD screen with a 200Hz refresh rate for $169.99.
Amazon lists the monitor at $249.99, so the current price cuts $80 from the tag. That works out to 32% off. Price tracker camelcamelcamel shows the deal as the lowest price for this model since April.
The offer was live as of July 16. The Amazon listing says the monitor is shipped and sold by Amazon, with free delivery shown for July 21. For Prime members, the listing showed an earlier July 17 delivery at the time the deal was checked.
Amazon is also showing its standard 30-day return or replacement window for the order, giving buyers a month to send it back or swap it if there is a problem.
What the Samsung Odyssey G5 offers
The model on sale is the Samsung 27-inch Odyssey G5 G53F. Samsung’s listing details a 27-inch IPS panel with a 2560 x 1440 QHD resolution, placing it above a standard 1080p display without moving all the way to 4K.
That resolution can be a useful middle lane for gaming setups. It gives more screen detail than full HD while asking less from a graphics card than a full 4K monitor would.
The headline spec for competitive players is the 200Hz refresh rate. That gives the display room to show high frame rates in fast games, provided the PC or console can produce them.
The monitor also supports HDR10, a display feature designed to show brighter highlights and more detail in darker areas when supported by the content. Samsung says the IPS panel offers a 178-degree viewing angle and more consistent color across the screen.
Gaming tools included
Samsung has built in several features aimed at players. Black Equalizer can raise visibility in dark scenes, which Samsung positions as a way to help spot opponents in shadowed areas.
Virtual Aim Point adds an adjustable on-screen crosshair. Auto Source Switch+ is also included, allowing the monitor to change inputs automatically when a newly connected device is turned on, according to Samsung.
The discount puts the Odyssey G5 G53F in a lower price bracket than its $249.99 list price while keeping the core gaming specs intact: QHD resolution, a 200Hz refresh rate, HDR10 support and an IPS panel.
As with any limited-time retail price, the Amazon deal can change without notice. The sale price shown for the Samsung 27-inch Odyssey G5 G53F was $169.99 when checked on July 16.
