Shakira’s “Dai Dai” streaming run has turned her 2026 World Cup moment into one of the strongest digital stretches of her career, according to Rolling Stone.

The Colombian star released the Burna Boy collaboration in May as the 2026 FIFA World Cup song. Rolling Stone reported that she performed it at both the tournament’s opening ceremony and the halftime show during the final, giving the track a global launchpad few singles ever get.

The numbers followed fast. Rolling Stone reported that “Dai Dai” reached No. 1 on Spotify’s Global Chart and Apple Music’s chart. On Spotify, it stayed at the summit for 17 days in July, which Rolling Stone described as the longest No. 1 run of 2026 by a female artist.

The song also set a Spotify mark for the most daily chart entries by a track from a Latin artist, according to Rolling Stone. The report said that total surpassed the surge for Bad Bunny’s “DtMF” after his 2026 Super Bowl halftime show.

Why is Shakira’s “Dai Dai” so big on streaming?

“Dai Dai” arrived with World Cup visibility, a Burna Boy feature and a dance-heavy video, then gained more reach from Shakira’s performances during the tournament. Streaming charts measure how often users play songs on platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music, so a global sports event can quickly turn a song into a worldwide streaming driver.

The video has become part of the story, too. Rolling Stone reported that “Dai Dai” is No. 1 on Spotify’s newly launched Global Music Videos Chart, making it the first song to lead that ranking.

Rolling Stone also reported that the single has helped Shakira become the first artist to land a Spotify No. 1 song in both Spanish and English. The report said she is now the fifth most-listened-to artist globally on Spotify, the highest spot reached by a Latina artist.

The World Cup boost is reaching well beyond the new single. “Hips Don’t Lie,” Shakira’s 2006 smash with Wyclef Jean, has entered the top 40 on Global Spotify for the first time, landing at No. 25, according to Rolling Stone.

That track predates the streaming era, but it has kept racking up plays. Rolling Stone reported that “Hips Don’t Lie” has 2.5 billion streams and posted its biggest streaming day on Friday, July 23, with 2.4 million streams, citing Kworb data.

Shakira’s recent visibility has also included the latest U.S. leg of her “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran” tour, which Rolling Stone has described as record-breaking. The combination has brought new attention to catalog hits while “Dai Dai” leads the current charge.

The singer already had major streaming wins before this run. Rolling Stone reported that her 2023 collaboration “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53” topped Spotify’s Global 200 and has reached 1.3 billion streams. “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa),” “Chantaje” with Maluma and “TQG” with Karol G have also crossed the billion-stream mark, according to the report.

In a 2024 Rolling Stone cover story, longtime collaborator Will.i.am said Shakira was still competing rather than coasting on her past. “She’s not just flexing her legacy,” he said. “She’s competing.”
