Withings has put its new BodyScan 2 smart health station on sale in the U.S., pricing the connected scale at $599.95 and loading it with up to 60 health measurements, according to the company.
The device builds on the original BodyScan with a redesigned HD handle display and a broader set of tracking tools aimed at heart health, metabolic signals and body composition trends, Withings says. Results can appear on the built-in color display while users are taking a scan.
Withings says the BodyScan 2 can complete its fullest check in about 90 seconds. The measurements include body composition, heart health insights, blood oxygen levels and other readings that feed into the Withings app for longer-term tracking.
Two scans, two speeds
The new scale offers a Daily Scan for routine check-ins and a Longevity Scan for a more detailed weekly look, according to Withings.
The Daily Scan takes about 30 seconds. It tracks weight, body fat, muscle mass, water levels, heart rate and Vascular Age, a metric Withings describes as an estimate of how a user’s blood vessels compare with typical aging patterns.
The Longevity Scan runs longer, at around 90 seconds, and adds more advanced readings. Withings says that mode includes a 6-lead ECG for heart rhythm tracking, Heart Age, SpO₂ blood oxygen measurement and a Nerve Response Score.
Those figures are collected in the Withings app, where the company says users can follow changes in their health trends over time.
More body mapping from the handle
Withings says the BodyScan 2 uses a 13-frequency Bioimpedance Spectroscopy system to estimate fat and muscle levels across six body areas. Those areas include the arms, legs, trunk and core.
The handle is a key part of the pitch. Rather than acting like a standard bathroom scale, the BodyScan 2 uses the hand-held section and the platform together to collect more readings and show results on the HD display.
The company also says the scale can track blood pressure trends and blood oxygen levels. Withings positions those readings as information users can discuss with a healthcare provider.
Battery, subscription and eligibility
Battery life is listed at up to 15 months on one charge, according to Withings.
Each purchase includes a one-month trial of Withings+, the company’s paid service. Withings says the subscription adds features such as advanced health scores, personalized insights and an AI health assistant.
The BodyScan 2 is also FSA/HSA eligible, according to Withings.
The Withings BodyScan 2 is available now in the U.S. from Withings for $599.95.
