Amazon pet picks aim to keep dogs cool through summer

Summer heat is hitting pets too, and TMZ Deals has put together an Amazon-focused list of gear meant to help dogs stay cooler, hydrated and protected during warm-weather outings.

Cooling gear for lounging and walking

The list starts with The Green Pet Shop Cool Pet Pad, described by TMZ Deals as a pressure-activated mat that creates a chilled feel when a pet sits on it. The pad is listed as working without refrigeration, water or electricity, which TMZ says avoids refilling, leaks and mold concerns.

For pets who prefer a softer setup, TMZ Deals points to the PetAmi Premium Cooling Pet Blanket. According to the roundup, the blanket uses soft, fluffy fabric designed to help manage body heat while a pet sleeps. TMZ also says it can be placed over a couch, bed or other furniture to help guard against chewing, scratching and shedding.

Dogs headed outside get their own wearable option with the Spark Paws Dog Cooling Vest. TMZ Deals says the vest uses evaporative cooling: wet it, wring it out and put it on the dog. The fabric is described as holding moisture for a longer cooling effect during walks or dog park visits.

Backyard splash zone

TMZ Deals also includes the Amazon Basics 3-Speed Box Fan for homes without air conditioning. The fan can be placed where a pet spends time, including a living room or bedroom, and TMZ notes it can help humans cool down as well.

For backyard play, the roundup names an Outdoor Yard Sprinkler that connects to a hose. TMZ Deals says it has 360-degree rotation and four angled nozzles for splash time outside.

The Peteast Splash Pad for Dogs & Kids is another water-play pick. TMZ Deals says the mat comes in three sizes, is made for dogs of different sizes and creates a fountain effect for pets and children.

Hydration, treats and protection

Hydration gets a dedicated pick with the Outdoor Dog Water Fountain. According to TMZ Deals, the fountain hooks up to a water connection and can be activated by a dog’s paw, allowing a drink without repeatedly refilling a bowl.

The roundup also features the Pupcicle Frozen Enrichment Toy Kit from WOOF. TMZ Deals says owners can fill the tray with a dog’s favorite foods, freeze it, then place the frozen treat into the Pupcicle for playtime in hot weather.

For hot pavement, TMZ Deals suggests Paw Protector Booties, noting that pavement too hot for a bare hand is too hot for a dog’s paws. The booties are described as adjustable, with slip-proof soles for stability, traction and protection on rough ground.

The list wraps with Dog UV Protection Goggles for beach trips, hikes or other sunny outings. TMZ Deals describes the goggles as shatterproof and waterproof, with protection from wind and debris.
