The Ant Jefe murder victim, Carl Welch, had methamphetamine in his system and had recently used cocaine when he died, according to a Los Angeles Medical Examiner report obtained by TMZ.
The same report said drugs were not listed as the cause of death. The medical examiner determined Welch died from blunt force trauma to the head, TMZ reported.
Ant Jefe, a cohost on “No Jumper,” has been charged in connection with Welch’s death. Prosecutors also charged Johnnie Gray with murder, according to TMZ.
What happened in the Ant Jefe murder case?
Investigators said Welch was attacked in a parking lot on January 31 by Ant Jefe and nine other people, TMZ reported. The case was investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Division before Ant Jefe was arrested and charged.
Video footage showed Welch being kicked, punched and stomped on, according to TMZ. The medical examiner’s report described blunt traumatic injuries, with the most significant trauma involving Welch’s head and neck.
The report also listed other injuries, including abrasions to the face and head, a cut on the left upper eyelid, a forehead contusion and other serious injuries, TMZ reported.
The toxicology findings add another detail to the case, but the medical examiner’s conclusion keeps the focus on the physical injuries Welch suffered during the fatal fight. Methamphetamine and recent cocaine use were noted in the report, while blunt force trauma was identified as the cause of death.
Who is Ant Jefe?
Ant Jefe is known as a cohost on “No Jumper,” the podcast and media platform associated with Adam22. TMZ identified him as one of the people charged after the fatal parking lot brawl.
Adam22 previously told TMZ that Ant Jefe had “been a great podcaster for the last year or so” and said that, as far as he knew, Ant “wasn’t really in the streets like that anymore.” Adam22 added that the case was “a huge shock.”
The charges remain allegations unless proven in court. TMZ’s reporting does not include a response from Ant Jefe or Gray to the medical examiner’s findings.
