Dexter: Resurrection season 2 is starting to come into focus, with Paramount+ first-look photos and new story details pointing to a messier next chapter for Dexter Morgan, Harrison Morgan and several old threats circling the family.
Deadline reported that the Showtime series, led by Michael C. Hall as Dexter, will return on Paramount+ with Clyde Phillips again behind the show. A premiere date has not been announced.
The new season puts Dexter between two killers, according to the details reported by Deadline: one already infamous and another causing terror in New York in unexpected ways. Dexter also has a less bloody problem on his hands, a mid-life crisis.
Harrison, played by Jack Alcott, is still chasing his own version of justice. The season’s setup has father and son heading into what Deadline described as their darkest chapter.
What is Dexter: Resurrection season 2 about?
The second season follows Dexter Morgan as he faces two killers in New York while dealing with his own personal spiral. Harrison’s pursuit of justice continues, putting the father-son story at the center of the new run.
One of the most eye-catching clues in the photos is Harrison’s apparent move into law enforcement, Deadline reported. That would put him in familiar Morgan territory: Harry Morgan, played by James Remar, was a detective; Dexter worked as a blood spatter analyst; and Debra Morgan, played by Jennifer Carpenter in the original series, was a homicide detective.
The first-look images also show Jack Alcott’s Harrison with Nona Parker Johnson’s Fiona. Johnson is one of the show’s new series regulars for season 2.
Desmond Harrington is back as Joey Quinn, and Deadline noted he has a larger role after being promoted to series regular. Quinn’s return carries extra charge after season 1 killed off Angel Batista, played by David Zayas.
According to Deadline, Batista was killed by Leon Prater, played by Peter Dinklage. Quinn’s long-running suspicion of Dexter from the original series gives the revived character plenty of history to bring into the new season.
Uma Thurman also returns as Charley. Deadline reported that season 1 ended with Charley getting her mother away from New York’s chaos, while her boss Prater was dead. Her reason for returning in season 2 has not been revealed.
Charley’s comeback comes with unfinished menace. Deadline noted that she previously told Dexter she would be the one to kill Harrison. A new image described by Deadline shows Charley and Dexter appearing to hold hands while locking eyes.
Who is in the Dexter: Resurrection season 2 cast?
The returning cast includes Michael C. Hall, Jack Alcott, Uma Thurman, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Kadia Saraf, Dominic Fumusa, Desmond Harrington and James Remar.
New series regulars include Brian Cox, Dan Stevens, Bokeem Woodbine and Nona Parker Johnson. Krysten Ritter returns as a guest star, while Gabriel Luna joins the season as a guest star.
Other first-look images reported by Deadline feature Dexter with Blessing Kamara, played by Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine; Harry Morgan, played by James Remar; R.H. Martin, played by Shavo Odadjian; and detectives Melvin Oliva and Claudette Wallace, played by Dominic Fumusa and Kadia Saraf.
Bokeem Woodbine is also shown in the photos as Captain Mixon, appearing alongside Oliva and Wallace. For now, the pictures are doing the teasing while viewers wait for Paramount+ to set the date.
