A Houston DoorDash driver who was struck by a car tied to a police chase still finished the order, then got a surprise from the customer after the clip spread online.
Miracle Herron told TMZ she was making her first delivery of the day when a vehicle involved in a police pursuit hit her. Video of the collision later circulated on social media, where viewers focused on the moment she got back up and kept going with the delivery.
FOX 11 Los Angeles shared footage on X on July 14, describing Herron as a DoorDash driver who completed her delivery after being hit by a car driven by a police chase suspect. The post drew thousands of views, according to TMZ.
A rough delivery, then a surprise
Herron told TMZ the customer who received the order later contacted her after seeing the viral video and realizing the delivery in the clip was theirs.
According to Herron, the customer sent her a large tip. She did not reveal the amount, but told TMZ it was among the biggest tips she has received while working for DoorDash.
Herron said the gesture mattered beyond the money, giving her a bright spot after a frightening day. Online commenters praised her for pushing through the incident, while others used the clip to call for more caution around delivery workers who are often in traffic while doing their jobs, TMZ reported.
Herron says she is off the road for now
Herron told TMZ she suffered minor back injuries from the crash. She said she is currently avoiding driving and has started a GoFundMe to help while she recovers.
She also told TMZ she does not plan to return to delivering through the app because she feels traumatized by what happened.
DoorDash said in a statement to TMZ that the company was relieved Herron was safe and recovering.
“This was a frightening situation, and we're so relieved this Dasher is safe and recovering. Her strength through this has been remarkable, and we've been in contact since the incident to check in and ensure she has the support she needs. We're grateful law enforcement acted quickly to apprehend the suspect,” a DoorDash spokesperson told TMZ.
The company did not provide further details in the report about what support Herron is receiving. TMZ also did not report the suspect’s name or any charges connected to the pursuit.
For Herron, the viral attention has brought concern, a customer’s unexpected show of support and a pause from the work that put her in the path of the chase.
