Drive Thru Magic podcast adds Daniel J. Kim and Danielle Kennedy
The scripted gay romance from Briggon Snow will debut Sept. 7, with Atypical Artists producing and Lauren Shippen executive producing.

The Drive Thru Magic podcast has added Daniel J. Kim and Danielle Kennedy to its voice cast ahead of a Sept. 7 debut, Variety reported.
The scripted fiction series comes from actor, writer and director Briggon Snow, known for The Bright Sessions. Atypical Artists is producing the show, with Lauren Shippen serving as executive producer, according to Variety.
Drive Thru Magic is described as a gay romance drama built around a roadside drive-thru, where two men connect through repeat visits and the tiny rituals of fast-food work: the speaker box, the car window and the same voice coming back again.
When does the Drive Thru Magic podcast come out?
The first episodes of Drive Thru Magic are scheduled to arrive Sept. 7 on all podcast platforms, Variety reported. The series completed recording in Los Angeles earlier this summer.
Kim, whose credits include Cobra Kai, will voice Louie, a pre-med student working a drive-thru job who develops feelings for a regular customer. Snow will also star in the series as Gabe, a young man caring for his grandmother as dementia changes their lives, according to Variety.
Kennedy, known for The ’Burbs, will play Barb, a long-serving drive-thru worker with a sharp edge who is the nearest thing Louie has to a friend.
Snow said in a statement reported by Variety that he began working on the story in 2024 and repeatedly stepped away because the material felt close to his own life. He said making the show became a way of facing loss and change, and that he shaped those themes into a gay love story.
What is Drive Thru Magic about?
Drive Thru Magic is an audio fiction romance about Louie and Gabe, whose relationship begins through brief exchanges at a drive-thru. The drama ties that unlikely meet-cute to a story about caregiving, grief and finding steadiness during a painful period.
Shippen praised Snow’s writing in a statement to Variety, calling the series heartfelt, funny and romantic. She said the show brings love and grief together through characters listeners will want to spend more time with.
Atypical Artists has a track record in scripted audio. Its past projects include Two Thousand and Late, a dark comedy selected for the 2026 Tribeca Audio Showcase, and The Bright Sessions, a sci-fi drama about people with supernatural abilities in therapy, according to Variety.
The company’s other audio work includes In Strange Woods, an original musical about a girl dealing with the death of her brother, and Netflix’s Stranger Things spinoff Rebel Robin: Surviving Hawkins.
Variety reported that Snow is represented by Eileen O’Farrell Personal Management and Dean Panaro Talent for voice work. Kim is represented by Management 101 and Osbrink Talent Agency for voice, while Kennedy is represented by Eileen O’Farrell Personal Management and Avalon Artists Group.
