A 63-year-old driver was arrested this week after police said he drove through the front gate of Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s East Hampton estate.

According to a police report obtained by TMZ, the man drove up the driveway of the couple’s New York property at a high rate of speed and hit the mechanical gates. Officers said the impact caused significant damage.

Police said the driver did not brake as he approached the gate, according to TMZ. His vehicle was impounded after the incident, and he was taken into custody.

The man was later brought to Stoney Brook Hospital for pain, TMZ reported, citing police. The report did not say what condition he was in after the crash.

Police say driver appeared confused

Detective/Sergeant Jennifer Dunn, one of the responding officers, told Page Six that the man seemed confused at the scene.

Dunn said the driver did not threaten anyone or name the residents of the home. She told Page Six the incident may have been random if the man was experiencing a medical issue.

According to Dunn, the man had earlier stopped at another house nearby while looking for a woman who did not live there.

The driver was charged with felony criminal mischief and misdemeanor criminal trespass, according to TMZ. The allegations have not been tested in court.

Couple’s whereabouts not known

TMZ reported that it was not known whether Beyoncé and Jay-Z were home when the crash happened.

The couple, two of the most recognizable names in music, have long been linked to high-profile properties and intense public attention. In this case, police have not alleged that the man made threats toward them, according to Dunn’s comments to Page Six.

No injuries to Beyoncé, Jay-Z or anyone at the property were reported by TMZ. Police details released in the report focused on the crash, the damage to the gate, the arrest and the driver’s trip to the hospital.

The man’s name was not reported by TMZ. No public response from Beyoncé or Jay-Z was included in the outlet’s report.
