Embassy MGM+ series casts Anna Kendrick in a London siege thriller
MGM+ has acquired Embassy, a six-part thriller starring Anna Kendrick, Sam Heughan and J.K. Simmons, for the U.S. and several markets.

The Embassy MGM+ series has found its U.S. home, with the streamer picking up the international thriller led by Anna Kendrick, Sam Heughan and J.K. Simmons, according to Deadline.
MGM+ acquired the drama for the United States and several other territories after the project was introduced at Mipcom nine months ago by Stuart Ford’s AGC Television, Deadline reported.
The series was created by Rom Lotan and financed and produced by AGC Television. Ascendant Fox and Turbine Studios also produced the show, according to the report.
What is the Embassy MGM+ series about?
Embassy centers on Layla, played by Kendrick, an American diplomat caught in a high-pressure siege after armed mercenaries attack the U.S. Embassy in London, according to Deadline.
Layla is forced to choose between protecting the U.S. Ambassador and carrying out his order to remove a high-value asset from the embassy. As a broader conspiracy comes into view, she has to trust her own judgment and accept help from her ex-fiancé, a British SAS soldier.
Simmons plays the U.S. Ambassador, while Heughan plays the former fiancé, Deadline reported.
Where will Embassy stream?
MGM+ will carry Embassy in the U.S. and will also stream the series in Italy, Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands, Brazil, Mexico, Chile, Colombia and Argentina, according to Deadline.
AGC International is handling international distribution. Deadline reported that the company has already sold the series to Amazon for the UK, Ireland, Canada, France, Australia and New Zealand, and to ZDF for Germany.
The production filmed in Cologne, Germany, and London, England.
Who is making Embassy?
John Strickland, whose credits include Bodyguard, and Christian Alvart, whose credits include Case 39, direct the series, according to Deadline.
Executive producers include Lotan and Strickland, along with Hester Ruoff, Bart Ruspoli and Matt Mitchell for Ascendant Fox. Daniel Hetzer, Jakob Neuhausser, Justin Thomson and David Tanner executive produce for Turbine. AGC’s executive producers are Stuart Ford, Lourdes Diaz and Miguel A. Palos Jr.
Michael Wright, global head of MGM+, called Embassy “an exciting addition” to the streamer’s slate in a statement reported by Deadline, describing it as a “high-octane six-part thriller” with a strong cast and creative team.
Wright also said Kendrick, Heughan, Simmons, creator Lotan and directors Strickland and Alvart have made a cinematic thriller that supports MGM+ as a home for classic storytelling aimed at modern viewers.
