Eric McCormack is heading into darker territory with You’re Safe Now, a psychological thriller from director Nimisha Mukerji and writer Jess Mastro, Deadline reported.
The Emmy-winning Will & Grace star joins a cast that also includes Anja Savcic, Jesse Rath and Bo Martynowska. Production on the film is underway in Toronto, according to Deadline.

You’re Safe Now is described by Deadline as a character-led psychological drama centered on loneliness, mortality and the darker shapes love can take. Further plot details, including McCormack’s role, have not been announced.
Mukerji directs after work on projects including Under the Bridge and 911. Mastro wrote the thriller and is also among its producers.
Who is in You're Safe Now?
McCormack leads the announced cast alongside Savcic, known for Loudermilk; Rath, whose credits include Supergirl; and Martynowska, who appeared in Nancy Drew, Deadline reported.
McCormack remains best known to many viewers as Will Truman on NBC’s Will & Grace, a role he played across 246 episodes. He received multiple award nominations for the sitcom and won the Emmy for lead actor in a comedy in 2001.
His recent screen work includes MGM+ and Sony Studios’ Nine Dead Bodies in a Mexican Morgue and Hulu’s The Other Black Girl. His wider television résumé includes Netflix’s Travelers, where he also worked as a director and producer, as well as Trust Me and TNT’s Perception.
McCormack has also kept a steady stage career. Deadline noted his recent Broadway run in The Cottage, along with earlier performances in The Music Man, The Best Man and Some Girl(s). He has stars on both Canada’s Walk of Fame and the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Who is making You're Safe Now?
The Launch Company is producing and financing the film. Chris K. Daniels is producing for the company, with Mastro and Craig Fleming also producing, according to Deadline.
Mastro’s previous credits include The Dutchman, The Black Sea and Underrated. She currently serves as head of development at The Launch Company.
McCormack is represented by Gersh, 3 Arts Entertainment and Sloane Offer Weber & Dern. Mastro is represented by Gersh and Echo Lake Entertainment, Deadline reported.
