Jack White condemned President Donald Trump in a Tuesday Instagram post over Trump’s reported comments about Los Angeles and San Diego, calling him “The Worst American of All Time.” The musician’s Jack White Trump comments followed a Nebraska rally speech reported by Variety and Rolling Stone.

According to Variety, Trump was discussing higher prices caused by the war, which he called “a small price to pay for keeping the world safe, keeping our country safe.” He then said: “They can take out a city. Let them take out Los Angeles. Let them take out San Diego.”

What did Trump say about Los Angeles and San Diego?

The available reports quote Trump as warning that a city could be attacked, then naming Los Angeles and San Diego. They do not include a full rally transcript or video in the material reviewed.

White reposted video of the remarks and addressed Republicans and conservatives living in the two California cities. He characterized Trump’s words as a recommendation that the cities be attacked, an interpretation that is White’s own, not an established description of Trump’s intent.

In the post, White accused Trump of putting personal allegiance ahead of the two cities and wrote that the president had “recommended that two major cities in our country be bombed.” He ended his message by calling Trump “The Worst American of All Time,” using the hashtag #TWAAT.

How did Trump’s team respond?

Trump’s Rapid Response account on X responded the following morning, according to Rolling Stone reporting republished by MSN. The account said Trump was arguing that the United States was fighting to prevent Iran from gaining the ability to attack Los Angeles and San Diego with a nuclear weapon.

That account’s explanation differs from White’s reading of the rally comments. The reports supplied do not independently establish the broader claims about Iran’s capabilities or the conflict.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom also criticized Trump in posts on X. Newsom called the president “deranged and dangerous” and asked where Congress was after an American president spoke about the two cities being “taken out,” according to Variety.

Had White used that phrase before?

Yes. White had used “Worst American of All Time” in a separate social-media post earlier in 2026, according to The Detroit News and Far Out Magazine. That earlier post was unrelated to the Nebraska rally comments about Los Angeles and San Diego.
