Kill Jackie heads to HBO Max in new European Warner Bros. Discovery deal
Warner Bros. Discovery has bought Catherine Zeta-Jones thriller Kill Jackie for HBO Max across key European markets in 2026.

Variety reports that Kill Jackie is coming to HBO Max in a fresh European deal, putting Catherine Zeta-Jones’ revenge thriller on the service in nine territories when the eight-part series debuts in 2026.
Warner Bros. Discovery has acquired the show for HBO Max in Spain, Portugal, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Iceland, France and Belgium, according to Variety. The pact gives the series a home in two long-running HBO streaming strongholds: Spain and the Nordic region.
Ampere Analysis, cited by Variety, projects HBO Max will overtake Prime Video to become Spain’s second-biggest streaming service by the end of 2026.
Where will Kill Jackie stream on HBO Max?
Kill Jackie will stream on HBO Max in Spain, Portugal, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Iceland, France and Belgium, according to Variety. The series is also tied to a U.S. sale to AMC+ and multi-territory sales to Prime Video, Variety reports.
The show is produced by Fremantle, which handles international distribution outside the United States, and Steel Spring Pictures. It is scheduled for a 2026 launch.
Zeta-Jones plays Jackie, a former drug dealer who has remade herself as a polished art dealer before her old life comes roaring back. Per the show’s synopsis reported by Variety, she is hunted by The Seven Demons, a squad of assassins, and a tragedy pushes her into revenge mode as she targets them one at a time.
The story is adapted from The Price You Pay by Sunday Times bestselling author Nick Harkaway, who wrote the book under the name Aidan Truhen. Tom Butterworth, whose credits include Gangs of London, and Conor Keane wrote the series, with Damon Thomas of Killing Eve as lead director.
Daniel Ings co-stars as Jackie’s tax lawyer, described in Variety’s report as a violence-averse foil who brings much of the humor to the thriller. The cast also includes Sidse Babett Knudsen, Óscar Jaenada, Hattie Hook, Darci Shaw, Raff Law, Enzo Cilenti, Christine Adams, Julian Rhind-Tutt, Karlis Arnolds Avots, Set Sjöstrand, Tadashi Ito, Sebastian Armesto, Julian Barratt, Gavin Spokes, Jonathan Cake, Bamshad Abedi-Amin and Bill Paterson.
Who is making Kill Jackie?
The series is co-created by Keane, Butterworth, Peter Lawson and Thomas, with Butterworth also serving as showrunner. Executive producers include Lawson and Jose Agustín Valdés for Steel Springs Pictures, along with Butterworth, Thomas, Zeta-Jones, Rebecca Dundon, Dante Di Loreto and Jeffrey Levine. Harkaway is an executive consultant.
Production was carried out in partnership with José Luis Escolar’s Deabru Kalea Filmeak, which oversaw work in and around Bilbao, according to Variety. The report says the series is expected to use the Spanish city’s post-industrial architecture, Guggenheim Museum setting, estuary walkways and surrounding countryside.
Jamie Lynn, Fremantle’s EVP of co-production and distribution for EMEA, told Variety that HBO Max had a strong record of backing premium projects and called the platform “the perfect home” for Kill Jackie.
