Lena Hall joins Disconnecting Peter as the family drama adds a Tony-winning stage and screen performer opposite Chad Michael Murray, Variety reported.
The film is written and directed by Christopher Beatty. Murray had already been announced for the project, and Hall will now play Elizabeth Ruck, the wife of Murray’s Peter Ruck.
According to Variety, Elizabeth is trying to keep the Ruck family from splintering as her husband’s damaging behavior puts them under pressure. The story centers on the family after an earlier tragedy, as they face whether to deal with their grief or allow it to tear them apart.
Who is Lena Hall playing in Disconnecting Peter?
Hall will play Elizabeth Ruck, a wife and mother figure at the center of the film’s domestic crisis, Variety reported. Her character is described as a woman fighting to keep the household intact while Peter Ruck’s patterns threaten the family’s stability.
Beatty praised Hall’s fit for the role in a statement to Variety, saying, “Lena has this rare ability to carry devastation and resolve in the same moment — that’s Elizabeth. She and Chad are going to bring something really special to this family.”
Hall won a Tony Award for her performance in Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Variety also noted her current work on Apple TV’s Your Friends & Neighbors, along with her role on Snowpiercer.
Her film credits include Becks, The Graduates and Honey Don’t!. On Broadway, she was also part of the original production of Kinky Boots.
Who else is making Disconnecting Peter?
Eddie Micallef and Benjamin J. Murray are producing the movie, according to Variety. Thomas J. Molica is serving as executive producer, and Stephanie Holbrook is handling casting oversight.
Production is planned to start in January 2027 in New Jersey. Variety reported that more casting is still in progress.
Murray brings a long run of television and film credits to the project. He is known for Sullivan’s Crossing, A Cinderella Story, Agent Carter, Freaky Friday and The Merry Gentlemen.
He first gained wide attention through One Tree Hill and Gilmore Girls. Variety reported that his most recent appearance was in last summer’s sequel Freakier Friday.
Disconnecting Peter is being positioned as a family drama built around grief, pressure and the hard choices that follow a devastating event. With Hall now set opposite Murray, the film has its central couple in place before cameras roll in New Jersey.
