Marion Cotillard’s Milo lands first sales ahead of San Sebastian
Studiocanal has unveiled early international deals for Nicole Garcia’s Milo, starring Marion Cotillard and Théodore Pellerin.

Marion Cotillard’s Milo is already moving on the international market, with Studiocanal and Trésor Films unveiling a new image from Nicole Garcia’s drama as the film heads to competition at the San Sebastian Film Festival, Deadline reports.
The film, starring Cotillard opposite Théodore Pellerin, has been selected for the festival’s 74th edition in September. Studiocanal co-produces the picture and is handling international sales, according to Deadline.
Early buyers are now in place across several territories. Deadline reports that Mongrel Media has taken Canada, Frenetic has acquired Switzerland, Spenzos has Greece, Lusomundo has Portugal, Capella has the CIS region and MCF has ex-Yugoslavia. Studiocanal will release the film in Germany.
What is Milo about?
Milo centers on Alice, played by Cotillard, who arrives in a quiet provincial town and starts working in a local café. According to the film’s description reported by Deadline, Alice appears to slip into a life that is not really hers.
Her reason for being there is linked to Milo, played by Pellerin, a young mechanic at a nearby garage. He sees Alice as a stranger, while she recognizes him as someone connected to a past she has not escaped.
The drama is billed as a story about old pain, hard choices and the possibility of repairing family-like bonds after years of damage, Deadline reports.
Cotillard reunites with Garcia
Milo marks another pairing for Cotillard and Garcia after From the Land of the Moon, the post-World War II romantic drama. Garcia told Deadline in February that Cotillard’s new part is the opposite of her role in that earlier film.
Garcia described Alice as quieter and more contained, with much of the character’s emotion held beneath the surface. She told Deadline the role depends on silence, restraint and a performer able to show what cannot easily be spoken.
Cotillard has had a busy festival year. Deadline notes that the La Vie en Rose Oscar winner appeared at Cannes in May with Guillaume Canet’s Karma and Bertrand Mandico’s Roma Elastica.
Pellerin also arrives with fresh festival heat. Deadline reports that he drew attention over the past year for Pauline Loquès’ Nino, a 2025 Cannes Critics’ Week title in which he plays a young man diagnosed with throat cancer. For that performance, he won the Best Male Hope César in February and the Louis Roederer Foundation Rising Star Award.
Who else is in the cast?
The supporting cast includes Artus, Alexis Manenti, Anne Brochet, Éric Elmosnino and Charles Berling, according to Deadline.
Garcia directed from a screenplay she wrote with longtime collaborator Jacques Fieschi, with Laurette Polmanss and Olivier Demangel also collaborating on the script.
The film is the fourth collaboration between Garcia and producer Alain Attal, head of Trésor Films, after Charlie Says, A View of Love and From the Land of the Moon.
Studiocanal, a Canal+ subsidiary, co-produces with France 3 Cinéma, Marcel Films and Artémis Productions. Deadline reports that the film has support from Canal+, Ciné+ OCS and France Télévisions.
Milo is scheduled to open in French cinemas on January 20, 2027.
