Marriagetoxin Season 2 is officially scheduled to begin in January 2027, and manga creators Joumyaku and Mizuki Yoda say Hikaru Gero’s next animated chapter will bring new heroines, expanding relationships and more action.
Crunchyroll reported the renewal on June 30, citing the series’ official announcement. The date is a broadcast start window, with no episode count, exact premiere day or further production details established in the announcement.
What have the Marriagetoxin creators teased for Season 2?
In an interview published by Variety, writer Joumyaku said more heroines will enter the story and add depth to the relationships around Gero. Joumyaku also said there is “plenty of cool action” the team wants audiences to see.
Yoda, the manga’s illustrator, said the next season will introduce new heroines as well as several characters they personally favor. Neither creator named the incoming characters or confirmed specific story arcs.
The first season’s continuation was confirmed before the later interview, so the official January window is settled while the creators’ comments offer a broad preview rather than a plot outline.
What is Marriagetoxin about?
The manga, written by Joumyaku and illustrated by Yoda, runs on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+. It follows Hikaru Gero, a highly skilled assassin ordered to find a wife so his family line can produce an heir.
His intended target, marriage swindler Mei Kinosaki, instead becomes part of the effort. The story pairs Gero’s dangerous work with his struggle to build relationships and pursue a life beyond the expectations placed on him.
Joumyaku told Variety that Gero’s personal growth is the foundation of the series, making questions of relationships and identity central to the manga. Yoda said Joumyaku and the series editor shape the story, while Yoda approaches the work through its emotional material.
How the anime has fed back into the manga
Variety reported that the anime is directed by Hori Motonobu and is streaming on Crunchyroll. Joumyaku said discussions held during anime script meetings have influenced important elements of the continuing manga.
Yoda said the adaptation’s action choreography added movement beyond what could be specified in manga panels. That experience has also affected the artist’s later depiction of Kinosaki, according to the interview.
For now, the confirmed detail is the January 2027 return. The creators’ message is that Gero’s search will get busier, with more characters joining the mix and action still high on the agenda.
