Miley Cyrus signs with Atlantic Records as she talks acting comeback
Miley Cyrus has joined Atlantic Records after two Columbia albums and says she wants future acting roles, including a romantic tragedy.

Miley Cyrus Atlantic Records news now has a second act: the singer has signed with the label while also saying she wants to return to acting, Variety reported.
The move follows two albums released through Columbia Records, including Endless Summer Vacation, the album that featured her Grammy-winning hit “Flowers,” according to Variety.
Cyrus discussed the next phase of her career as guest editor of the new issue of Wonderland magazine. The issue brings in a long guest list of people connected to or admired by Cyrus, including Dolly Parton, Daryl Hannah, Tish Cyrus-Purcell, Noah Cyrus, Kelela, Lykke Li, Sky Ferreira, 070 Shake, Towa Bird, Suzanne Vega, Tallulah Willis, Scout Willis, Phantogram and Model/Actriz.
The centerpiece is a conversation between Cyrus and Hannah, where the pop star talks about music, creativity, growing up in public and possible screen work.
Is Miley Cyrus acting again?
Cyrus has not announced a specific film or television role. In the Wonderland conversation, she said she would “genuinely love” to act and direct, and told Hannah she had reached out partly because she wanted to work with artists she admires.
Asked about acting or directing, Cyrus said her dream has been to collaborate with artists she looks up to, naming Hannah directly. She added that she had an idea and told Hannah to call her.
Her clearest hint at the type of role she wants came when makeup artist James Kaliardos asked what dream character she would want to play in a film. Cyrus said she would like to “disappear into something” romantic, describing a love story with real stakes.
She also pointed to tragedy as the lane she has in mind, saying a Shakespearean setup would appeal to her. Her example was a “punk-rock Juliet,” a part she described as fierce and romantic.

Cyrus framed songwriting as instinctive rather than mechanical in her talk with Hannah. She said a song is more than chords, melody and lyrics, calling it a feeling that becomes its own thing if the artist listens closely.
She also said she likes making records with collaborators who are willing to test ideas without guarding them too tightly. In her view, the best sessions happen when the people in the room are curious, excited by the same goal and comfortable throwing out or expanding an idea.
Asked what she likes most about making music, Cyrus said she feels aligned with her purpose and gifts when records are flowing through her. She described songwriting as something mysterious, saying a new song can feel as if she has heard it before, even before it is finished.
The Atlantic signing gives Cyrus a new label home as she talks publicly about both music and screen ambitions. Wonderland has published the Cyrus-led issue and its related interviews online.
