Nara Smith has shared the update her followers have been hoping for: her 2-year-old daughter, Whimsy Lou, is in remission, according to a social media post from the lifestyle and fashion influencer on Friday.

Smith thanked people for their support and said she had wanted to speak sooner about her daughter’s health, but felt she needed to be careful because the matter was so private.

In the post, Smith said she and her husband, Lucky Blue Smith, had been living with the situation for months before deciding to tell the public.

“Lucky and I have been going through this and processing it for the last eight months, and we were debating on even sharing such a private part of our life. Now that she's finally in remission, it felt like I could find the words to share,” Smith wrote, according to TMZ.

The update follows Smith’s earlier disclosure this month that Whimsy Lou had been diagnosed with cancer. TMZ reported at the time that Smith shared the diagnosis in an emotional video posted to social media.

According to that earlier account, Smith said she and Lucky Blue Smith took their toddler to the emergency room after noticing something that worried them. She did not publicly identify the specific form of cancer Whimsy Lou was diagnosed with.

Smith’s latest message focused on gratitude for the people who helped her family during treatment. She thanked the medical professionals involved in Whimsy Lou’s care, according to TMZ.

She also said the ordeal changed how she sees the strain placed on families facing cancer treatment, especially the financial pressure that can come with it. Smith described the experience as traumatic and said it made her more aware of how stressful and expensive treatment can be.

Smith said she was looking for charities and foundations to support. In the meantime, she shared GoFundMe pages for children who are also fighting cancer, according to TMZ.

The influencer, known for lifestyle and fashion content, has kept some details of her daughter’s illness private. Her Friday post marks the first public update that Whimsy Lou is in remission.

Smith and Lucky Blue Smith have not disclosed further medical details in the reporting, including the type of cancer or specifics of the treatment their daughter received.
