Blizzard has announced a Diablo animated series with Netflix, but release timing, cast and story details remain under wraps.

The Netflix Diablo animated series is in development, Blizzard Entertainment announced during BlizzCon 2026 in Anaheim. Blizzard president Johanna Faries revealed the project at the event’s opening ceremony, according to Variety.
That is the confirmed part. Netflix and Blizzard have not announced a release date, cast, creators, episode count, animation style or story for the show.
When will Netflix’s Diablo animated series be released?
No release window has been announced. Gematsu reported that Blizzard offered no additional details alongside the announcement, while Deadline said the companies plan to share more information later.
The project has been described specifically as being “in development.” That means viewers do not yet have confirmation that it is in production, a completed series, or a scheduled Netflix release.
What will the Diablo show be about?
Blizzard’s announcement says the series will be set in the world of Diablo. Variety describes that world, Sanctuary, as a place where humanity is caught between the High Heavens and the Burning Hells.
Whether the animated series will adapt a particular game, follow established characters or tell a new story has not been disclosed.
Diablo began as an action role-playing game in 1996. Its latest main game, Diablo IV, arrived in 2023, Variety reported. Deadline also reported that the series has had releases in 2000, 2012 and 2023.
