The Ocarina of Time remake release date is Nov. 5, 2026, Nintendo has announced. The rebuilt version of Link’s 1998 adventure is headed to Nintendo Switch 2, following its first gameplay reveal during the company’s Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct.
Series producer Eiji Aonuma presented the gameplay, according to Nintendo. The company said the release remakes the original with new visuals, voiced cutscenes, expanded dialogue, an orchestral score, and revised camera and movement controls.
When does the Ocarina of Time remake come out?
Nintendo has set the game’s launch for Nov. 5, 2026. That date is for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on Nintendo Switch 2, not the Zelda anniversary console hardware.
Players who want the themed gear first will get it a week earlier. Nintendo said its Nintendo Switch 2: The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition system arrives Oct. 29, alongside anniversary Pro Controller options and a carrying case with screen protector. Each carries a Triforce design.
What is new in Nintendo’s Ocarina of Time remake?
Nintendo’s announced changes go beyond sharper scenery. The company lists fully voiced story scenes, additional character dialogue and symphonic orchestral music, alongside reworked controls and camera behavior.
- Completely overhauled visuals
- Fully voiced cutscenes
- Expanded character dialogue
- Symphonic orchestral music
- Reworked camera and movement controls
There is also a new use for the Switch 2’s built-in microphone. Nintendo says players can play, or hum, a melody Link has learned while near the microphone, and Link will perform that song in the game.
For physical-game collectors, Nintendo said the initial print run will come in special packaging with textured foil cover art. That packaging is available while supplies last.
What else is part of Zelda’s 40th anniversary?
The Ocarina of Time release is one part of Nintendo’s anniversary program, which the company says runs through 2027. Young Link and Young Zelda amiibo are due in 2027; Nintendo says they will unlock special in-game masks with a retro-style visual look.
Nintendo also plans Ocarina of Time support in its Zelda Notes service within the Nintendo Switch App. The company says that support will offer adventure tracking, hint-image location challenges, a virtual ocarina and a daily quiz containing more than 2,000 questions.
The calendar is now clear: Zelda-themed Switch 2 hardware lands Oct. 29, the Ocarina of Time remake follows Nov. 5, and the new amiibo arrive sometime in 2027.
