Ghost and Tommy are getting their baby-faced beginnings.
Starz has released the first look at Power: Origins, showing Spence Moore as young Ghost and Charlie Mann as young Tommy before the pair became the heavyweights introduced in the original Power series. The roles were first played by Omari Hardwick and Joseph Sikora.
Moore, whose credits include Creed III and All American, will play Ghost. Mann, known for Primate and The Watchers, will play Tommy. Mekai Curtis will return as Kanan, continuing the role he has played in Power Book III: Raising Kanan.
The new series will follow Ghost, Tommy and Kanan in their younger years, with Starz describing the characters as ambitious entrepreneurs on the way up. The first images arrive ahead of the series finale of Power Book III: Raising Kanan.
The Power universe keeps expanding
Power: Origins is produced by Lionsgate Television for Starz and is the fourth spinoff in the franchise. Starz has given the series an 18-episode order.
The show was created by Courtney A. Kemp, who created the original Power, and Sascha Penn, who worked on Power Book III: Raising Kanan. Penn is also serving as showrunner and executive producer.
Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson is an executive producer through G-Unit Film and Television. Mark Canton is executive producing through Canton Entertainment. Chris Selak, Kevin Fox and Pete Chatmon are also executive producers, with Chatmon set to direct six episodes.
The series is currently filming in New Jersey, according to Starz. A teaser for the show has also been released.
What comes next
The finale of Power Book III: Raising Kanan Season 5 is scheduled to air Aug. 7 on Starz. That series has served as the franchise’s Kanan-focused prequel, with Curtis at the center.
The earlier spinoffs in the franchise are Power Book II: Ghost, Power Book III: Raising Kanan and Power Book IV: Force.
Starz has also recently approved another spinoff, Power: Legacy, which will star Joseph Sikora and Michael Rainey Jr. Rainey previously starred in Power Book II: Ghost.
With Origins, Starz is turning the clock back again, this time to show how Ghost, Tommy and Kanan started building the lives that would define the original Power saga.
