The Ronny Doe murder investigation is still open more than a year after Karon “Ronny Doe” Cann, an ex-boyfriend of Chrisean Rock, was shot and killed in Maryland, according to police comments reported by TMZ.
Justin Mulcahy, a representative for the Anne Arundel County Police Department, told TMZ on Monday night that the case has not gone cold. “We can confirm that it is an open and active investigation; however, we are unable to provide any additional details,” Mulcahy said, according to TMZ.
Cann was killed in February 2025 in Severn, Maryland, a Baltimore suburb. Investigators believe the shooting was targeted, TMZ reported.
Who killed Ronny Doe?
Police have not publicly named a suspect or a person of interest in Cann’s killing, according to TMZ. The department also has not released new details about what detectives are examining or who they are seeking.
TMZ reported that officers went to a home in Severn after receiving shooting reports and found Cann outside suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Paramedics treated him at the scene before he was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died.
The case has drawn public attention because of Cann’s connection to Chrisean Rock, whose personal life and relationship with rapper Blueface have played out in public.
Before his death, Cann publicly claimed he was the father of Chrisean Rock’s son, Chrisean Jr., TMZ reported. Chrisean Rock has maintained that Blueface is the child’s father, while Blueface has denied being the father, according to TMZ’s prior reporting.
TMZ also reported that roughly a month after Cann made the paternity claim, he allegedly confronted Chrisean Rock at a mall while she was with her infant son, and police were called.
