Sara Gilson murder-suicide did not surprise Shawn Duffey’s ex-wife, she says

Stephanie Ramsay, the ex-wife of Jeremiah “Shawn” Duffey, told TMZ the Sara Gilson murder-suicide left her shocked, yet not surprised by the violence authorities say unfolded inside Gilson’s Owasso, Oklahoma, home.
Ramsay alleged to TMZ that Duffey threatened her during their 20-year relationship and said she believed Gilson knew he was capable of violence. Authorities have said Duffey shot Gilson before killing himself, TMZ reported.
What happened to Sara Gilson?
Gilson and Duffey were found dead Thursday from gunshot wounds inside her home in Owasso, according to TMZ. Authorities said the case was an alleged murder-suicide, with Duffey accused of killing Gilson and then taking his own life.
TMZ also reported it obtained dispatch audio from the night of the shooting. In that audio, a dispatcher said a woman could be heard screaming and crying before a loud bang, according to the outlet.
Ramsay says she and Gilson were in contact
Ramsay told TMZ she and Gilson kept in touch during periods when Gilson and Duffey were apart. She said they spoke only days before the fatal shooting about Gilson’s viral “Netflix doc” TikTok and other women who claimed to know Duffey.
Ramsay said she thinks more was happening than Gilson’s social media posts. She alleged to TMZ that Duffey had jealous tendencies and could not stand the idea of partners moving on.
Ramsay also described Duffey as manipulative, alleging he pulled Gilson back into the relationship when she tried to leave. She told TMZ she experienced similar behavior before she and Duffey divorced in 2018.
Family fallout after the deaths
Ramsay and Duffey shared five children, now between 15 and 25 years old, according to TMZ. Ramsay said the children are struggling to process what their father is alleged to have done.
She also alleged that Duffey’s daughters did not want to see him after allegations involving a girl on a basketball team he coached surfaced in June. Ramsay told TMZ his son did see him.
Ramsay said her side of the family had been trying to get a protective order, but claimed it was not granted. TMZ did not report further details about that protective order request.
The case has drawn attention because Gilson had an online following and had posted about her relationship before her death, according to TMZ. The outlet has also reported on 911 dispatch audio connected to the shooting.
