In the Savannah Guthrie mother kidnapping case, a line from the “Today” anchor’s latest public appeal has now been linked to the reward she offered months ago, according to TMZ.
Guthrie posted another plea Monday about her mother, Nancy Guthrie, whose kidnapping case has reached the six-month mark this week. In that message, Savannah used the phrase “We have done our part,” which prompted questions about whether money had changed hands.
TMZ, citing FBI sources, reported that investigators knew ahead of time that Savannah planned to make another public appeal. One FBI source told the outlet that case anniversaries can be a moment to bring public attention back to an investigation.

According to TMZ’s FBI sources, Savannah was referring to the $1 million reward announced for Nancy Guthrie’s recovery, rather than to a ransom payment.
The outlet reported that the wording was aimed more broadly at anyone who might know what happened to Nancy. The report said the people responsible for the kidnapping would not be expected to claim a reward.
TMZ also reported that it reviewed the Bitcoin address connected to the first ransom note in the case and found no recent deposit. According to the outlet, FBI sources said the bureau put several hundred dollars into the account months ago in an attempt to trace it, but that effort did not work.
Those FBI sources told TMZ that investigators remain in contact with the Guthrie family and that the family has not paid money to the kidnappers.

The case remains unresolved, according to TMZ’s reporting. One FBI source told the outlet, “We’ve made no progress here. We have no idea where Nancy is or who kidnapped her.”
Savannah’s latest video followed earlier public updates in the case, including her February announcement of the $1 million reward. TMZ also previously reported on alleged ransom notes connected to Nancy’s disappearance, as well as later statements about the legitimacy of those notes.
The newest appeal appears to be part of a renewed push for information as the case hits a grim marker. The FBI sources cited by TMZ described the timing as deliberate, with the six-month point used to put Nancy’s case back in front of the public.
