Slipknot Sid Wilson exit reports now have a narrow official answer: the band said it would no longer be associated with its longtime DJ and keyboardist, effective immediately. The statement, reported by Variety and others as a social-media post that was later deleted, offered Wilson good wishes but no explanation.

“Effective immediately, Slipknot will no longer be associated with Sid Wilson,” the reported message said. It added: “We wish him the best in his future endeavors.” Variety reported that the post had been removed by the time of its report.

Page Six said the announcement appeared through Knotfest’s official Instagram account. Metal Injection also reported that a social-media announcement carrying the same wording was deleted shortly after it appeared.

Why did Sid Wilson leave Slipknot?

The band’s reported statement did not say why Wilson and Slipknot had separated. Variety said the reason remained unclear, and neither a cause nor any plans for the group’s future were included in the announcement.

Wilson had not publicly commented on the departure at the time of Page Six’s report. Claims about the circumstances of his removal have circulated through TMZ reporting relayed by other outlets, but Slipknot did not substantiate those claims in its statement.

A long run with the masked metal group

Wilson joined Slipknot in 1998, according to Variety, shortly before the release of the group’s self-titled first studio album in 1999. He performed as the band’s DJ and keyboardist for nearly three decades.

The confirmation followed weeks of uncertainty. Variety reported that TMZ first said in late July that Wilson was out of the group. On the same day, guitarist Jim Root posted an Instagram Story urging followers not to accept every report at face value and to wait for more information.

That caution makes the later statement significant, even if it leaves the central question unanswered. Slipknot has publicly signaled that its association with Wilson has ended, while the reason for the separation and what comes next for the band remain undisclosed.
