The Starfleet Academy season 2 release date has narrowed to March 2027. The next season of the Paramount+ series will arrive that month, although no specific premiere day has been announced, according to Variety and Deadline.
The update landed Saturday, October 10, during the Star Trek panel at New York Comic Con. Deadline reported that cast members Holly Hunter, Sandro Rosta, Bella Shepard, Karim Diané and Robert Picardo appeared with co-showrunners Alex Kurtzman and Noga Landau.
When does Starfleet Academy season 2 premiere?
Season 2 is scheduled to launch on Paramount+ in March 2027, Variety reported. Viewers will have to wait for the exact date, which has not yet been set publicly.
The upcoming run will also close the book on the show. Variety and Deadline describe it as the second and final season, while TrekCore reported that the final run will contain 10 episodes.
Who do Bill Nighy and Rosemarie DeWitt play?
Bill Nighy will guest star as Nyk Ake, the estranged father of Hunter's Nahla Ake, according to Deadline and Variety. Rosemarie DeWitt will play Laytha Sadal, the mother of Zoë Steiner's Tarima and the First Lady of Betazed.
Released first-look photos put both new characters on screen. Captions published by Variety identify Nighy’s Nyk alongside Picardo’s Doctor, while another image pairs DeWitt’s Laytha with Steiner’s Tarima. Deadline also published photos of Rosta as Caleb, Shepard as Genesis, George Hawkins as Darem and Steiner as Tarima.
What is Starfleet Academy season 2 about?
Deadline’s published season description places the cadets in their second year aboard the USS Athena. The group will face rivalries, diplomatic negotiations, a competitive academy-wide tournament and the arrival of a new cadet whose existence raises questions beyond the school.
The series follows a new group of Starfleet cadets training to become officers. That premise returns for one last season in March 2027, with Nighy and DeWitt joining the class’s orbit.
