Stefon Diggs accuser DMs must be handed over in legal fight

A judge has ordered the Stefon Diggs accuser DMs at the center of his legal fight with the NFL star to be turned over, according to court documents obtained by TMZ.
Christopher Griffith, who has accused Diggs of sexually assaulting him at Diggs’ Maryland home, must produce his full Instagram direct message history with Diggs within 14 days, TMZ reported.
The order also requires Griffith to hand over records tied to his travel around the weekend of May 20 to May 23, 2023, the time period when he claims the alleged assault took place.
What did the judge order Stefon Diggs' accuser to hand over?
According to TMZ, Griffith must provide documents covering flights, luggage, hotels and ride-share receipts connected to travel to and from Maryland during that weekend.
He also has to turn over text messages exchanged with Diggs, along with any conversations he had with Diggs or about Diggs, TMZ reported.
The judge rejected a request from Diggs’ side for sanctions, according to the same court documents. The case remains active.
How did the Stefon Diggs legal fight start?
TMZ previously reported that Diggs sued Griffith for alleged defamation after Griffith made claims that Diggs assaulted him in 2023. In that lawsuit, Diggs said Griffith’s claims damaged his reputation and caused him harm.
Griffith later countersued, according to TMZ, alleging that he was drugged and sexually assaulted by Diggs. In court documents cited by TMZ, Griffith claimed Diggs exposed himself and asked Griffith to come to his room, and Griffith said he refused the alleged invitation.
Griffith also claimed in court filings that, about a week after the alleged sexual assault, Diggs had his brother and others beat him up in an effort to keep him quiet, TMZ reported.
Diggs’ defamation suit is his legal response to Griffith’s allegations. Griffith’s countersuit sets out his own allegations against Diggs. None of those claims has been resolved in the ongoing case, according to TMZ’s reporting.

The discovery order means Griffith must give Diggs’ legal team communications and travel materials that could be used as evidence as both sides press competing claims.
For Diggs, the case centers on his claim that Griffith’s allegations harmed his reputation. For Griffith, the countersuit centers on his allegations of drugging, sexual assault and a later attack that he claims was meant to silence him.
The latest order does not decide the truth of either side’s claims. It sets a deadline for records and messages to be produced as the legal fight moves ahead.
