The full Ted Lasso season 4 trailer has arrived, with Jason Sudeikis’ relentlessly upbeat coach heading back to Richmond for a fresh assignment on Apple TV, Deadline reports.
This time, Ted is not taking charge of the club setup viewers last saw him leave behind. Season 4 puts him in charge of a second-division women’s football team, a shift Deadline described as the character’s biggest challenge yet.
The trailer shows Ted accepting the new job with his familiar good cheer, while also making clear the season will not be all biscuits and pep talks. Deadline reports that the new run follows Ted and the team as they take risks they once would not have considered, with problems cropping up along the way.
When does Ted Lasso season 4 come out?
Ted Lasso season 4 launches worldwide on Apple TV on August 5 with one episode, according to Deadline. New episodes are scheduled to arrive every Wednesday through October 7.
The timing gives Apple a soccer-friendly runway. Deadline noted that the premiere comes a few weeks after the World Cup ended, after the tournament pushed more attention toward the sport in North America.
Who is back for Ted Lasso season 4?
The returning cast includes Sudeikis, Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Brett Goldstein, Brendan Hunt and Jeremy Swift, Deadline reports. Waddingham and Goldstein return as Emmy winners from the show’s previous run.
The new season also brings in Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsay, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abbie Hern and Grant Feely, according to Deadline.
For anyone catching up, Ted Lasso follows an American coach whose sunny style collides with English football culture. Season 4 keeps the Richmond setting but changes the job in front of him, moving the focus to a women’s side fighting in the second division.
Who is making the new season?
Sudeikis executive produces season 4 with Hunt, Joe Kelly, Jane Becker, Jamie Lee and Bill Wrubel, Deadline reports. Jack Burditt, an Emmy winner, is also an executive producer on the season under a new overall deal with Apple TV.
Goldstein is serving as both writer and executive producer, joined by Leann Bowen. Sarah Walker and Phoebe Walsh are writers and producers, Sasha Garron is a co-producer, Julia Lindon is writing for the season, and Dylan Marron is story editor, according to Deadline.
Bill Lawrence executive produces through Doozer Productions, working with Warner Bros. Television and Universal Television. Doozer’s Jeff Ingold and Liza Katzer are also executive producers.
The series was developed by Sudeikis, Lawrence, Kelly and Hunt, based on the earlier NBC Sports format and characters, Deadline reports.
