The Batman Part II filming will not be paired with a simultaneous shoot for a third installment, according to DC Studios co-chief James Gunn.
Gunn addressed the claim in a Threads exchange after a user asked whether The Batman: Part III was being filmed at the same time as Matt Reeves' The Batman: Part II. His answer was brief: “I can deny.” Deadline and TheWrap both reported the exchange.
The reply knocks down the specific rumor that the two follow-ups would shoot back-to-back or simultaneously. It does not confirm that a third film has been approved, nor does it give a production or release timetable for one.
Will The Batman Part II and Part III film back-to-back?
No, according to Gunn’s response to the Threads question reported by Deadline and TheWrap. Beyond rejecting that reported production arrangement, Gunn did not offer further details about a potential Part III.
The point matters because online speculation had treated the two-film shoot as settled. Gunn’s answer narrows the picture: viewers have a date for the next Robert Pattinson Batman film, but no announced schedule for a separate third chapter in Reeves’ series.
Warner Bros. has set The Batman: Part II for theatrical release on Feb. 18, 2028, Deadline and TheWrap reported. That is the firm date in the current reporting.
What has Gunn said about a third Batman film?
This is not the first time Gunn has pushed back on this particular idea. ComicBookMovie reported on June 10, 2024, that he denied an earlier rumor that the second and third films would be made back-to-back.
The latest Threads response does not add a formal announcement about The Batman: Part III. It answers only the question put to Gunn: whether the proposed third entry was shooting alongside Part II.
For now, the sequel due in 2028 is the piece of the Gotham puzzle with a reported theatrical date. The rest, including when or whether another installment moves into production, remains unaddressed in Gunn’s latest comment.
