Tom Holland tossed one short line into a promo interview, and the Zendaya marriage rumor mill got another full tank of gas.
During a WIRED video with the cast of Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film “The Odyssey,” Holland was asked alongside Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway and Robert Pattinson about one of the internet’s big questions on the Greek epic: whether Athena, played by Zendaya in the movie, was romantically interested in Odysseus.
Holland, who plays Telemachus, answered fast: “No, because she’s married to me.”
Damon appeared to enjoy the response, chiming in with, “Good answer,” according to the WIRED clip.
The joke landed because it worked both on-screen and off. In Nolan’s film, Zendaya plays Athena, while Holland plays Odysseus’ son. Away from the movie, Holland and Zendaya have kept fans watching closely for any sign that their engagement has turned into a marriage.
TMZ has reported that the couple became engaged in January 2025. Since then, according to TMZ, the speculation has been fed by possible wedding rings, wedding-adjacent fashion choices and previous careful comments from Holland.
Neither Holland nor Zendaya has publicly confirmed that they are married, according to TMZ’s reporting.
The WIRED appearance was built around the cast answering 50 frequently searched questions about “The Odyssey.” The Athena-and-Odysseus question gave Holland a neat opening to nod at the offscreen chatter without actually making an announcement.
That is where the intrigue sits. Holland did not say he and Zendaya had held a ceremony. He did not offer a date, venue or any direct confirmation. He made a joke, and the timing did the rest.
Zendaya and Holland’s relationship has been a steady focus for celebrity watchers for years, and their latest movie linkup has only kept the spotlight warmer. With both appearing in the same high-profile Nolan project, every red-carpet moment, interview answer and ring sighting has been picked apart by fans.
Recent publicity around “The Odyssey” has included premiere appearances connected to the film, including events in New York, Paris and the United Kingdom, according to TMZ’s coverage.
For now, the public record remains where it was before Holland’s WIRED wisecrack: TMZ has reported an engagement, marriage rumors are still circling, and the couple has not made an official wedding announcement.
Holland’s line gave fans a fresh clue to debate. It did not close the case.
