Wendy Williams Peacock docuseries plans are taking shape, with Deadline reporting that the streamer has greenlit a three-part series about the host and her former daytime program for 2027.
The project is tentatively titled Clap If You Care: The Wendy Williams Show. Deadline reported the series will revisit Williams’ career, the pop-culture footprint of her talk show and questions surrounding her departure from it.
What will Peacock’s Wendy Williams docuseries cover?
According to Deadline, the series will follow Williams’ rise from radio into daytime television while also examining the personal toll of fame. It is expected to include accounts from 20 former staff members who worked on The Wendy Williams Show.
The report does not establish whether Williams will take part in the production, appear on camera or provide new interviews. It also does not give a specific premiere date beyond the planned 2027 release window.
Who is making the series?
Suzzanne Bass, who was an executive producer on The Wendy Williams Show, is attached as an executive producer on the docuseries. Bass was also a familiar on-camera presence during the show’s run, Deadline reported.
Ian Orefice, Jon Adler, Amanda Spain and Missy Walker are executive producing for EverWonder Studio. Chris Witherspoon and Vanessa Golembewski are also executive producers, according to Deadline.
A look back at the talk show
The Wendy Williams Show ended in June 2022 after 13 seasons, Deadline reported. Its final season used guest hosts after Williams did not return to the program.
Earlier reports in August had described Peacock and Netflix as separately developing projects about Williams, without confirmation from either platform. Deadline’s later report supplies specific details about Peacock’s planned series, including its three-part format, tentative title, producer lineup and target year.
