The Dodgers arrive in the Bronx with baseball’s top record, and SportsLine’s projection model is expecting more noise from the bats than Friday’s tight opener delivered.
Los Angeles, listed at 62-36, faces the New York Yankees, listed at 54-43, on Saturday night at Yankee Stadium. CBS Sports’ Daniel Lewis reported that first pitch is scheduled for 8:08 p.m. ET.
The matchup comes one night after the Dodgers edged the Yankees 2-1 in the series opener. Los Angeles has built a 12.5-game lead in the NL West, according to the report, while New York sits 2.5 games behind the Rays in the AL East.
Despite the Dodgers’ bigger season résumé, oddsmakers had the Yankees as narrow favorites in the lines cited by CBS Sports. New York was listed at -112 on the money line, with Los Angeles at -107. The total was set at 9 runs, and the Dodgers were listed at -1.5 on the run line at +153.
Pitching matchup puts total in focus
Ryan Weathers is scheduled to start for New York. CBS Sports listed the Yankees left-hander at 3-7 with a 4.15 ERA entering the game.
Emmet Sheehan is set to go for Los Angeles. He enters at 4-6 with a 4.81 ERA, according to the same report.
SportsLine’s model, which CBS Sports said runs each MLB game 10,000 times, landed on Over 9 combined runs as its public pick for the matchup. The model projects the teams to combine for 10 runs.
The case for a higher-scoring game leans on both the arms and the lineups. CBS Sports reported that Weathers has allowed at least four earned runs in four of his last eight starts. Sheehan posted a 6.00 ERA in June, according to the report.
The offenses also bring top-end production into the night. CBS Sports said both clubs rank in the top 10 in Major League Baseball in scoring.
Judge absence noted, Dodgers stars still project well
The Yankees are without Aaron Judge because of a rib issue, according to CBS Sports. The report said that limits New York’s offensive ceiling, even as the model still points to the total going over.
For Los Angeles, the model projects roughly two total bases apiece for Shohei Ohtani, Freddie Freeman, Andy Pages and Mookie Betts, according to CBS Sports. On the Yankees side, the model has Amed Rosario and Ben Rise averaging around two total bases.
SportsLine also said its model has a preferred money-line side for Dodgers-Yankees, though CBS Sports’ public write-up did not disclose that pick. The model entered the 2026 MLB All-Star break on a 33-21 run on top-rated MLB selections, according to CBS Sports, which also said it returned nearly 30 units of profit on home run prop picks in 2025.
Saturday’s game gives the Yankees a quick chance to answer after the one-run loss, while the Dodgers try to keep rolling with the best record in the majors attached to their name.
