Andrew and Tristan Tate arrested in Miami as U.K. rape charges expand
U.S. Marshals confirmed the brothers were taken into custody, while British prosecutors detailed new charges tied to alleged offenses from 2010 to 2017.

Andrew Tate and Tristan Tate were taken into custody in Miami on Saturday by federal law enforcement officials, the U.S. Marshals Service said, as prosecutors in Britain outlined a fresh set of charges in the brothers’ ongoing U.K. cases.
The Marshals Service confirmed the arrests but said it could not identify the charges connected to the warrant because it was sealed.
Britain’s Crown Prosecution Service said Andrew, 39, and Tristan, 38, are facing additional rape charges and are awaiting extradition to the U.K. The agency said the latest charges followed a new evidence file sent to prosecutors by Bedfordshire Police.
Malcolm McHaffie, head of the Special Crime Division at the Crown Prosecution Service, said in a statement that the new charging decisions came after the agency reviewed that file.
New charges detailed by British prosecutors
According to the Crown Prosecution Service, the alleged offenses span from July 2010 to August 2017.
Andrew Tate faces seven additional counts of rape, three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation, three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and 19 additional charges linked to illegal child images and pornography, the agency said.
Tristan Tate faces two counts of rape, one count of sexual assault, and three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation, according to the Crown Prosecution Service.
The agency said the new charges are connected to four additional alleged victims. Earlier charges in the cases were tied to three alleged victims.
Before the latest charges, Tristan Tate’s case included three counts of rape, six counts of actual bodily harm, and two counts of human trafficking, prosecutors said. Andrew Tate’s earlier case included three counts of rape, four counts of actual bodily harm, two counts of human trafficking, and one count of controlling prostitution for gain, according to the agency.
The charges are allegations, and the brothers have not been convicted of the newly listed offenses. The statements from the U.S. Marshals Service and the Crown Prosecution Service did not include comments from either brother.
Brothers have lived in Romania and the U.S.
The Tate brothers are social media influencers and former kickboxers. They are dual citizens of the United States and Britain, according to NBC News.
NBC News has reported that the brothers moved to Romania in 2016 and returned to the United States last year while a criminal investigation in Romania was underway.
The brothers have also been widely linked to the “manosphere,” a social media movement focused on elevating men and rejecting feminism, according to NBC News. They have been accused by critics of promoting toxic masculinity and misogyny.
The immediate next step described by British prosecutors is extradition to the U.K., where the expanded cases are pending.
