Cécred review: NBC Select editor names best Beyoncé hair care picks
NBC Select’s Ashley Morris tested 16 Cécred products for three months and singled out the oils, conditioners and detanglers that worked best.

NBC Select’s new Cécred review puts Beyoncé’s hair care line through a three-month test, with editor Ashley Morris trying 16 products across the brand’s Foundation, Protection and Styling collections.
Morris, who reviewed the products on her natural hair, wrote that the line stood out most for moisture, detangling and post-braid care. Cécred has drawn attention since its launch for products aimed at dry and damaged hair, according to NBC Select.
Is Cécred worth it?
For Morris, yes. After multiple wash days, braid takedowns and protective styles, she said several products earned permanent spots in her routine, especially the Oil Ritual, Detangling Spray and deep conditioning treatments.
Her top pick was the $48 Cécred Oil Ritual, which NBC Select named its editor’s pick. Morris said the oil made her hair feel softer and less brittle after use, even on a wash day when she did not pair it with other Cécred products. The brand recommends warming the oil before applying it, according to NBC Select.
The $28 Cécred Detangling Spray was named the best budget pick under $30. Morris said it cut her pre-wash detangling time to 30 minutes or less, compared with the 45 minutes to an hour she said the task usually takes. She also noted that it did not leave residue, flakes or crunchiness.

Among the Foundation products, Morris highlighted the $32 Hydrating Shampoo and $32 Hydrating Conditioner. The shampoo contains hyaluronic acid and an oil blend of baobab, moringa and black seed, according to the brand. Morris said the shampoo and conditioner together kept her hair moisturized for days with little to no extra styling product.
The $40 Moisturizing Deep Conditioner also became a standout in her wash routine. Morris said she tried it with and without the warm towel the brand recommends and found her hair felt soft after rinsing either way.
The $53 Fermented Rice & Rose Protein Ritual uses rice water and rose protein, which the brand says help strengthen hair for better length retention. Morris said the treatment was effective enough that she planned to buy it again after her third use, though she preferred to follow it with a moisturizing conditioner.
What worked for braids and protective styles?
For braids, Morris pointed to Cécred’s Protection Collection. She said the $38 Scalp Refreshing Spray helped with itchy areas and buildup thanks to a precision nozzle, while the brand says its formula includes honey, ceramides and menthol.
She also liked the $39 Detoxifying Shampoo after wearing braids or immediately after taking them down. According to the brand, the blue-colored clarifying shampoo helps prevent brassiness in chemically treated hair. Morris said it gave her scalp a strong tingling and cooling sensation, which may not suit every user.
